Sunday, two more high school friends ---bid the world of the living adios. One was like a brother and the other was a life long cripple from the wreck we had drag racing back in January of 58. Same day--one in Cali--one in Tennesee. That well known sucker with the curved blade is rapidly gaining on my generation. (all american names!)--Over the past year or so--Richard, Ted, Bob and Bill. oooo---is Joel an all american name? 'Fraid so. Don't waste time, youngins--it's all we have.
Sorry for your loss ....strange for some reason the movie Weekend at Bernie's suddenly came to mind. Hotwater
I think when people our own age start to pass away, we start to question our own mortality. I'm so sorry for your loss.
That comes to mind every time I have to prepare a body for the mortuary ( there is story behind this) . Today was one of those times.
I basically disappeared from all my old friends for 30 years or so, but when I moved back to my hometown---it was as if I never left. In high school we had a hot rod club ---but none of us had a car!! (I named it --The Commoners. Seems typical for me, even back then). Just about all my friends seemed to be amateur comedians --we spent our formative years laughing our asses off. No drugs in those days, but there was a little old lady that had a small store in the boondocks and she would sell us beer at 14-15 and we would camp out and get stupid. And funny. There was a cop in our little hometown that liked kids and when he caught us with beer in town, he'd always say--"I told you boys not to drink in town, so get your asses to the country to drink. " Mind you, this was the early to mid 50s. Man--those days are gone. Thanks for the thoughts, friends.-------Joel
Sorry to hear this, and I hear you. My best friend recently passed away as well and the list of classmates, friends and family grows longer each year. Old age isn't a right granted to everyone.
