OK well I just found out that I am a week pregnant. But I was wondering if I have a chance of having twins. I did some research and it says its through the mothers side. But my fiancee's father is a twin...so how exactly does that work? If anyone knows please explain it to me...i am a bit confused.

fraternal twins-2 eggs-are genetic. it usually occurs when a woman releases several eggs during one cycle. it is maternal, female's mother, because it means you are more fertile and usually have an easy time getting preggers.

is that understandable? pretty much, if any females on your mother's side ever had fraternal twins, you have a chance of having them. well everyone does, but it has nothing to do with dad's genes.

Fraternal twins are genentic. Identical are not, they are just an "accident." The daddy of the baby has no effect on how may eggs you drop (fraternal) or if a fertilized egg splits (identical.)

"Through the mother's side" may mean YOUR mother, not the mother of the baby. Although if your father was a twin, your OB or midwife will want to know about it as well.

What the other ladies said is correct. Daddy has no involvement in twinning. Well, okay, maybe some...*lol*

I don't know if you're hoping for twins, or praying you don't have them, but let me tell you. I have 18 month old boy/girl twins and they are just AWESOME. It is the most amazing experience. Lots of hard work, lots of exhaustion, but totally worth it.

Good luck to you, and a happy, healthy 9 months!

    Big hugs and belly rubs...
