Okay so I've decided to finally try and do my best at loosing weight and having a healthy diet and execise routine.
I'm jus not completely sure what type of diet (not meaning that im going on a diet, jus changing what im eating) is good for me, and my weight loss.
I've also decided to convert to Vegetarianism.
    Soo.
I have gym class first period everyday, which I usually curl and bench press.
    I'm about 5'5, 165. 14 years old.
Thanks for any help that you guys have to offer.
and help with will power will be amazing!
    Peace

you are 14 - you are not obese - you do not need to actively try to lose any weight because you are still growing and maturing your body - you need to eat protein and omega 3 fatty acid rich foods along with plenty of veggies and fruit - curling and bench pressing every day is going to get you injured

First off....good on ya for trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle. :cheers2:

Give us an example of what you eat on a typical day.

Like Fitzy said, it's a no-no to curl/bench every day. You need to train your whole body, not just the parts that you see in the mirror.

Well in gym all we have readily available is weights.
But i do typically jog at night for about 15-20 minutes.
And in a day i usually eat...
    Oatmeal for Breakfast.
    Peanuts/Cashews throughout the day,
A salad, banana, and apple for lunch,
A banana when I get home from school,
And dinner which varies quite often.

I can't improve on what's already been contributed here but I'll happily throw in my respect and support for your decision to take charge of your own health. Great decision and best of luck.

    Train your whole body.
Try to be active in general - maybe pick up a sport.
Avoid junk food and processed sugars.
    Essentially what the others said.

Personally I would advise against going vegetarian if you want to build muscle, though. It's important to get protein from varied sources.

As for willpower, when I'm in the gym lifting weights, I summon a bit of primal anger and fury to push through my sets, especially my work sets. Different things work for different people, but the most important thing imo to succeed on the heavier sets is to get into an empowered, positive "winner" state of mind.

As for willpower to actually get into the gym and do your workout, that will be a non-issue once you're in a routine. At that point, you'll look forward to your workouts.

Willpower to stick to your healthy diet? Go back to your goals. Before eating junk, ask yourself if this is going to get you any closer to your goal of being more fit.

Scour the web for a varied weight lifting program. You should be able to find anything from full body workouts to seven day programs.

I know a vegetarian female bodybuilder. :) She does eat (a lot of) eggs and dairy, so she is not vegan.

    You're welcome...

Meet your willpower half way and adopt a diet and exercise program you can live with long term... think of it more as a lifestyle and less as a punitive chore to be pursued only until a fitness level has been reached because that approach ensures only failure.

For some encouragement... I'll be 46 in a month and am in the best physical shape I've ever been... I even have a reasonably defined set of abs. I'm simply addicted to weight lifting and keep my diet simple and balanced. I also surround myself with people who encourage this lifestyle and not who look at weekends as occasions to wreck their livers. My girlfriend shares this interest and is in excellent shape herself.

    Best of luck.

Moderation is key. Enjoy a treat every once and a while. If there is one thing to avoid, IMO, it's sugar followed by saturated/trans fats.

Don't be shy to ask about exercises if you feel stuck or in a rut! :)

    Best of luck to ya!

    Thanks elle.
about the treat thing, i read once that the main reason people quit diets was because they they tried to eat nothing they liked.

That and they adopt hellish starvation diets that are not only unsustainable but wreck the metabolism by signaling the body that food is scarce and food becomes stored as fat and they gain more than they lost in the first place. This does perpetuate a steady market of people desperate enough to try anything.
