About 150 workers at Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal casino hotel picketed on the boardwalk Sunday afternoon after 1,000 of the resort’s cooks, housekeepers, bellmen and servers walked off the job ahead of the busiest weekend of the year. The workers are seeking reinstatement of health, pension and other benefits eliminated during 2014 bankruptcy proceedings, as well as higher wages. They earn an average of $11.80 an hour, and their hourly wages have risen 80 cents the past 12 years, union representatives say. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/07/03/trump-taj-mahal-workers-strike-third-day-marring-casinos-july-4-weekend/86658302/
well, mostly by not spending money on too many unnecessary expenses. no, it's not as pleasant as making $40 an hour, but it's perfectly doable. i feel like those wages are probably pretty typical for workers in those types of jobs. maybe even on the high end.
