In context - So for example, I'm the only candidate which has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean renewable energy as the key into coal country. Because we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business, right? And we're going to make it clear that we don't want to forget those people. Those people labored in those mines for generations, losing their health, often losing their lives to turn on our lights and power our factories. Now we've got to move away from coal and all the other fossil fuels, but I don't want to move away from the people who did the best they could to produce the energy that we relied on. So whether it's coal country or Indian country or poor urban areas, there is a lot of poverty in America. We have gone backwards. We were moving in the right direction. In the '90s, more people were lifted out of poverty than any time in recent history. Because of the terrible economic policies of the Bush administration, President Obama was left with the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, and people fell back into poverty because they lost jobs, they lost homes, they lost opportunities, and hope. So I am passionate about this, which is why I have put forward specific plans about how we incentivize more jobs, more investment in poor communities, and put people to work.
"We're going to put a lot of horse and buggy drivers out of business" - Henry Ford Well, something like that. Life moves on. There will always be someone left behind in the march of human progress
Oh, please. I listened to some of the coal miners speaking in interviews before the outcome of the 2016 election, and the bottom line for them was to over turn abortion is why they were voting for trump. So now we have a govt that has gone from bad to worse......people cutting off their noses to spite their faces in voting against Hillary......but it is too bad they had to take the non Trump supporters, environement and animals that have nothing to do with anything with them with their agendas for a better world. right. i am so glad you deem to know everyone's reasons for everything. Hope you liked shooting yourself in the foot!
Then why do they keep pedaling identity politics to vilify underpriviliged and undereducated white people all the time?
So...did you listen to what he said? Increasing the limits to pollution by coal fired plants may lead them to price themselves out of the market if they can't clean up their act...but, but if there is a way to use coal in a clean way we should pursue it. Same with nuclear. By setting rigorous standards in regards to how much pollution we allow WE CAN LET THE MARKET DETERMINE WHAT TYPES OF ENERGY WE PURSUE! (Paraphrase)
Ask and ye shall receive: When whites just don't get it: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/03/opinion/sunday/when-whites-just-dont-get-it-part-6.html Then there's this gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCHfH0WABTY Has Sanders walked a mile in EVERY white person's shoes? Has he experienced the world through every white person's point of view and life experiences by facing discrimination, blind hatred, and I dare say racism from other groups and ethnicities? Of course he hasn't. But this narrative is very common amongst liberal politicians who think they know everything.
You stated: The article you cited was about racial bias. So what does this have to do with vilifying whites? What bothers you about the Sanders clip? That he has empathy? He stated an obvious fact, if you are not a member of a group that is discriminated against, you may have no idea what discrimination is like. I'll give you an example. Way back in 1970/71, I had extremely long hair for the era, down to the middle of my back. I returned to my hometown and walked into a G.C. Murphy's 5 and 10 Cent Department Store. The entire store came to a halt, customers and clerks (there were no associates in those days). Little groups of whispers formed and I was followed around the store until I left. I realized then what it must be like to be black, and I realized I could cut my hair, but a black person can't change the color of their skin. I was discriminated against in a bunch of settings, college classes, jobs, public recreational venues, etc. As I white person I developed empathy for those who are discriminated against by others. So, I'll ask again, what's wrong with Bernie's statement?
You make a lot of charges without citing any evidence to back any of it up. I'll give you one example: In 2015 Obama authorized $55 million for the retraining of coal miners. So you need to get your facts in order. I'll be off line for a few days, so I'll check back later.
You know you're unoriginal and unimaginative if you're stealing source material in a low brow humor magazine for kids.
