So which premise do you disagree with, if any? Trump doesn't support violence or you're not a supporter of Trump? Or do you subscribe to what I assume is Asmodean's theory of voting by selective support and a disregard for the complete picture.
It seems it can mean multiple things, depending on the motive and ideas of the voter. I was explaining why unfocusedanakins logic was flawed there according to me. I wasn't telling you anything how someone should or shouldn't vote.
I didn't say or implied anything about such a choice being caused by lack of looking at the complete picture. I'm also interested in why ************ voted for Trump
Didnt you say that Democrats need to vote pragmatically rather than enforcing a purity test when Clinton was criticized in 2016, and again recently when Joe Biden was criticized this election cycle?
In traditional FORMAL LOGIC (common among lawyer) If A happens when B happens then C will certainly happen = This is called a Slippery Slope and it is flawed logic. In Symoblic Logic it would be accepted = IF A then B therefore C and here it is called a Hypothetical Syllogism.
I don't fully understand what you're asking. If you mean we should vote for the candidate that we feel has the highest morals and ethics, and through his or her actions will promote those values even though they have character flaws or have made mistakes in the past...then yes I agree. There are few, if any, completely pure humans. Even Mohandas Gandhi had serious flaws.
It just seems like encouraging people to vote pragmatically despite the fact that they feel certain actions/past legislation, etc, of a particular candidate is morally dubious and conflicts with their own moral standards seems a bit contradictory to what you now seem to be arguing
I don't think I said to vote for someone if you feel they are morally dubious and their values conflict with your own. I thought I was saying the opposite. I thought I was saying to vote for someone if you agree with their overall values...even thought the person may be flawed in certain areas.
McConnell has made it clear he will not make any concessions to the House Democrats over the proceedings of the trial in the Senate, and Senate Democrats are now urging Nancy Pelosi to go ahead and submit the articles of impeachment. I'm a realist, I don't expect Trump to get removed from office until November. Him and a lot of other Republicans.
Yes. & I agree. But that makes this the most meaningless impeachment in the history of the world, and totally undermines the House of Representatives. The history books will read with none of the media spin we enjoy today. It will say 'he got away with it'. I'm resigned to this. But this November will speak volumes about where America stands on Trump. I know I will vote against him, and I hope against hope that he doesn't win again. I know that that's all I can do, and it has to be enough.
