Have a friend who believes this? Says “Nothing good ever happens after midnight”?? I suppose that does make sense: Most people are asleep after hours so guess that would be somewhat accurate? But would YOU personally ever believe that for yourself? Would you tell other people “Nothing good ever happens after midnight”? Or would you call my friend’s bluff and say there’s nothing wrong with staying up late at nighttime?

Well, since the day literally starts at midnight, I'd say literally everything good happens after midnight.

it is a rather broad statement... but there is some truth to it. and it is most likely based on the scenario of folks out late, drinking or partying, and things get out of hand - lots of bad things can happen when things get out of control... just seems that if I am home in my bed, sleeping, I am probably a lot safer than I am when I am out partying late at night.
My conclusion is - this is neither true nor false. Good and/or bad things happen. Period.

Now that I'm 65, it's more like, "nothing good ever happens after nine o'clock".

You really made me laugh. I thought that I was the only one to see technical accuracy.

I still remember the time when my late mother tapped her glass and made an announcement, towards the end of the dinner party she was hosting.

"Every one of you is going to die after you have eaten this meal".

After the shock horror died down, a couple of the guests put their brain in gear.

During the coffee and cigars, my mother made a further announcement.

"I was really worried that one of you was going to have a heart attack before dinner was finished and prove me wrong".

My college professor used to joke that we were all minutes away from death.

My mother was born in 1903 and after a lifetime working for the UK government, she could wind everyone up. She lived until 2000

Unless they are explained within seconds. jokes such as this are banned on radio and television here, after a woman decided to end it all before the poison got her.

It’s an expression typically used to give advice to young people. I’ve heard it said about midnight, and 2am. Mostly because of young people being out that late usually involves alcohol and partying. If you don’t stay out super late, you’re less likely to get into trouble.
I personally have always enjoyed the “ witching hours “. However, I’m just out for a walk or something and not drinking and driving or going out partying with folks I just met at a bar/ club environment.

Some of my most creative and bravest thinking came about after midnight. I lived in San Francisco between the ages of 25 and 30. When the city is asleep, electricity consumption is low. There are virtually no bird calls. I heard the sounds of a nearby cable car cable and of the movement of the fog.
Two o'clock is when the bars would officially close. I never wanted to walk outside when heavy drinkers were heading home after an all-nighter of alcohol consumption. If you are fortunate enough to live somewhere that has restaurants that are open 24 hours, you can sometimes consume some of the best meals after midnight. Eating in solitude at a restaurant is a rare treat (although I'd probably stay away from coffee made after midnight).

If you act exhausted every single night until your grown You can say you go to sleep when your body clock puts you to sleep, and wake up when you feel comfortable hours of day.
