Very gritty, dd. I think this will appeal to two specific target groups: a) the open-minded b) the warped. You have an uncompromising way of telling a story, which lies (in style) somewhere between Elmore James and Stephen King. Noire stories are always a difficult task, because it's strenuous for the writer, since they have to dig deep into their own persona to find the appropriate words to make the sexual/violent scene truthful. It can also be difficult for the reader as they may be inhibited. I always find it strange that in an open minded hippy forum such as this, stories of a sexual/violent orientation seem to gather very little reaction. I think that I actually prefer your climbing stories, but that's just a personal taste, rather than a critical claim. Nevertheless, I think you could create a thrilling novel out of the character you created. One thing I would suggest that I also do for myself. If you go for the novel, let your characters dictate your plot. You will be able to make your story merely on the strength of your characters and the decisions they make. All you have to do as an author is throw in the obstacles for them, a bit like an Olympian god. Try it and see of it works.

This bit of fluff (the current short story, 'Trouble') was meant to entertain the reader and hopefully get a laugh or two out of him/her, with all the gritty cliches of the old Mike Hammer detective yarns. At the same time, it was a learning exercise for the author. Of course, the story line is not believable. Anyone who found himself in jail with a dead cellmate in the manner shown would quickly find himself charged with first degree murder, and the poisoned chewing tobacco would quickly be traced to him. As noted above, I deleted a sexual pic in order to stay on the good side of the Hipforums Sex Police. Aside from that, I enjoyed writing it and l understand at least some of you liked it.

I was convicted of uttering threats against this gentleman and I received a suspended sentence, 40 hours community service and a criminal record.
