Ah, its because the majority are so shallow that they dont have any real opinions about anything you actually might have to think about for more than 5 seconds. Start a thread like What's your favorite colour and you'll be on page 5 by the end of the day... try something about the government's policy of hammering the unemployed, for example, and you might get one or two replies [and half of them distressingly conservative [small 'c']]. I mean, good grief - not even a thread about the forthcoming Royal Parasite nuptials !
I'd be glad to see the back of the royals and the arrival of a republic. I'm not looking forward to the coming months of waity katy mania.

While the assistance America offered during both world wars was welcome, and much gratitude has been paid by England and European nations, it gets a bit tiresome to hear from Americans who somehow believe that they "saved everyone's ass". Most assuredly they did not. Germany in WW I was on the verge of collapse, and it was America's entry into the war that Churchill suggested may have helped pave the way for WW II. (Again and interpretation... but read it for yourself, I won't go into his thoughts here.) And as for WW II... Russia (who lost 25 million souls) ground down that German war machine. England held out against Germany and wasn't about to fall, no matter how much revisionists like to imagine it was. America helped. But let's not heap all the credit for a team effort on one player.
I think that was a lighthearted trolling, keeping in theme with the thread, rather than a serious assertion.
