^ Oh No everyone watch out the dubstep has arrived. LOL i remember going to a psytrance rave 2 years ago and I didn't even know what the fuck dubstep was, and they were scheduled dubstep right before the psy. I thought it was just going to be like for an hour or 2 they played it for like 4 hours, oh god that was annoying. Needless to say the psytrance dj ripped the dubstep djs a new one. outside of a couple of tunes dubstep sucks.
I really like dub, and psy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH_8e9JYtRs"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH_8e9JYtRs

Im a dj who plays both dubstep and psytrance. What can i say, I like bassy genres. Psydub, Dubstep, Psyphy i can really get into em. I will be the first to admit though that dubstep way too hyped up right now and a lot of the genre sucks. About a year ago dubstep sample packs came out and now its the same damn VSTs and samples in every track. Take for instance that oh so popular "sippin the purple" track. There are some gems out there though that push the sound of the genre in unexpected directions. This i like. Dubstep seems very pliable at the moment with about a million different influences on the board. Plus it is pretty easy to push it off on the top 40 crowd without much flack. some of the brosefs listen to it and don't know what the fuck it is but they dig it. "cool beats bro, wheres the words?" lol Now i have seen dubstep dancefloors get super rowdy but never have they come close to the balls to the walls mind ripping trance dance insanity that i see on a psytrance dancefloor. Also psytrance is more complex of a genre in its production and in its formatting for dj sets and i think this is why it reigns as my top favorite. Its more difficult to produce and dj with it.
i will say this again. psytrance is the most hardc0r3 psychonautica dance till you die music ever. don't believe me? ask my homie Egnogra Guillermo from Shaman Films Records. We went to a psytrance party in the huatesca mountains of monterrey mexico and we saw a dude get his ear sliced up by a metal lighting stand. I guess he didn't notice the sharp edges and whammed into by it dancing like crazy. He was so into his dancing that he did not notice his ear was bloodied until he felt something wet and looked at his socks and saw blood had dripped all the way down there yeah. hardcore.
Your in England arent you? What rigs have you played on? I hate the fact that psytrance has taken over the parties. Well thats not true, theres still some proper acid and hardtek being mashed out. The only original rave music, I just stick to roots rave music Psytrance has just become too commercialised
nah im from the US man. Psytrance hasn't taken over here its still quite undergound for the most part. Electro House and dubstep have taken over in my area. You would never hear psy in a club cept on rare occaisions. All the commercial "full on" psytrance seems to come out of israel, UK, and Germany. There are still many good US, Portugese, Indian, Russian, Mexican, and Japanese artists pumping out cutting edge underground stuff. Psytrance was never really "rave" music to me. I would identify House or Techno with that culture more. Its a totally different beast. The open air psy parties are different from a rave even though the same elements are present.
I think theres still a huge misconception over the word rave between the States and here. Psy has been never played in clubs but a lot of the raves are pumping out psy, well, in the UK a lot of them are. Here in Ireland its still a majority of Acidtek and hardtek, which, as far as Im concerned is still the only music worth blasting through a rig Im part of the SonikTek crew out here, 20kw rig but its fine for most of the raves. Although I dont own any of it, just always helped set up, get the word out and keep the peace. Currently on the way to building a rig with my dad though How do ye go about getting the word out about raves there? Here theres "party lines" usually the number of someone whos invovled with the crew. http://www.sonicrampage.org/mixes/Pearsall-SquatRocking1.mp3 bit of acid for ye there
In California they do play psytrance at raves, but only in northern California have I gone to an indoor psy party. Its not really 'underground' here but it definitely is exclusive to a niche crowd. Some raves have infolines you can call the night of the party, some are becoming a bit more overt and have flyers on the net or around certain light posts and stuff. As a generalization, most the more overt parties are like 1/2 club, 1/2 rave atmosphere. We also like to wave glowsticks around in people's faces which I've heard is not as popular in Europe.
Yeah party lines and word of mouth are the only ways of party info getting out here. Any that are posted on the net or flyers would be busted immediataly, and getting a €10,000 system confiscated by the pigs is serious shit. Theres always a few glow stick dicks at any party, most of the party crowd are fairly druggy/scummy/rough people...friendly, if you know them anyway but its not really a welcoming atmosphere for new comers. Theres usually some UV spray paint and body paint around the gaff at parties...I remember covering myself in UV orange and green spray paint after about 250mg of MDMA and 2 tabs at a huge party last November nice set of ruined clothes there hahaha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8a_kIXuf8Q&feature=PlayList&p=50991382C2ACD9DC&index=0"]YouTube- Acrid Abeyance - Minimalistic
