    Hello,
If anyone is well versed with Trey's rig, please try and help me out here. I have most of his effects, or decent substitutes. There is one effect that I just cant seem to find, or even figure out what it is. In fact, both Page and Trey used it. The best example that comes to mind is in Frankenstien when they get to the spacey jam before the ending. Immediately you hear Page's Hammond chopped up repetitively by this, "chopping" effect. It's similar to tremolo, but it doesn't progress in and out, or like ring... It very obviously is, "chopped," and at variable rates. Another example would be the YEM jam from the Rosemont Halloween show, (the 40 min yem). Trey uses this thing a lot along with the washing machine effect when they are deep in the jam. This thing is evident in all of their shows. It may just be one of the special effects on Trey's trek board or something, but if anyone could shed some light on this for me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
    Mike

On treys website there is a "treys rig" section where you have a nice kindof interactive picture where you roll you cursor over his gear and it tells you what it is. Here's a link hope it helps:

Yeah ive checked that and ive checked all his things out, I really wish I could just ask him. Its really cool though, i've never really heard any other band using that effect. Still if anyone has any idea of what the chopping effect that page and trey used, lemme know. thanks

Yeah i've searched everywhere, and a lot of the links are broken now. I probably need to talk to a guitar tech person or someone like that. Its my favorite phish "noise" though except for the ghost effect.

trey uses an ibanez tube screamer a lot. although his was modified by analogman. uhh as for the ghost noise, i would use a lot of flanger and wah and toss in some harmonics and a delay pedal definatel helps

to create the ghost loop, i use a digitech whammy pedal running thru a digitech delay.....and i turn the delay up with alot of repeats and take it from the high octave to the low to create those loopy sounds he does.....then i phrase sample it with my digitech jamman looper, damn i have alot of digitech gear....
