Tremé made its debut on HBO last week. I think it's going to be a winner. It portrays the slow and difficult post-Katrina comeback of the oldest black neighborhood in the USA, the Faubourg Tremé of New Orleans. The music and acting are high in quality, and it seems to portray working-class New Orleans in a very realistic way, balancing the good and the bad. I haven't seen any TV footage of the city that does a better job of communicating that feel of being in a place where anything is possible at any time. Based on high ratings and solid reviews for the premier episode, HBO has already renewed Tremé for a second season.
Yeah I caught some of this. David Simon seems to deliver every time. John Goodman's character was particularly good.
