hug a tree man put a smile on a tree spirits face and be atone with nature. .... .........yeah man a day in the forest .
Paul: Why do you think it is many spirits instead of one? Anyway, From the porch of the house (3262 Wainbell Apt. 1's porch facing the church parking lot) on the corner of Wainbell and Peermont (in Dormont borough of Pittsburgh 15216-2300), you can look to the right after coming out of the apartment door and see a tree with big holes in it. The way they are arranged, the tree looks like Death (sorta like the things in Scary Movie or whatever that was, but actually cool looking instead of dorky with a mask). Wow... this web page is cool: http://www.asciiworld.com/naked_women.html
immages of faces have nothing to do with spirits. both are pretty cool though, at least when they occur in nature and arn't egotisticly imposed on mechanical objects. =^^= .../\...
I spent the first 5 years of my career as a field forester and much of the time surrounded by trees of all shapes and sizes. I hugged a lot of trees by putting a diameter tape around them to measure their dbh! I’d be the first to admit that, at least collectively, there certainly is a spiritual presence.
One way to honor a tree spirit is to follow the Shinto method of honoring the Kamisama, (the Kami or gods) within the tree. You simply cut and fold paper into shide (pronounced like she-day), folded streamers, which you then attach to a rope to create a shimenawa. Use Japanese calligraphy paper (rice paper) and cotton string so that it will eventually return to nature. Shimenawa mark a sacred space, and they are said to ward against evil spirits. They are also attached to places that either attract spirits or are inhabited by them. The shide represent lightning and also refer to the fecundity of nature. I have an apple tree in my backyard, and it has always been special to me. I have always tied my prayer ties to it, and so forth. Two years ago my grandson tied a punching bag to the tree as he wanted to become an MMA Fighter. I did not like the intrusion into what I felt was a sacred space. But there was really nowhere else he could put it in my yard, so I allowed it. From a distance you can see that right above the punching bag is a dead spot with no leaves. We have also very few if any apples (and they are very sweet apples) since he did that. A few weeks ago, I tied a shimenawa on the two trunks of the tree. There are several youtube videos on how to make shide.
The trees are living beings, and have been around longer than humans. We all need to pay them respect. @Mountain Valley Wolf I'm not surprised your apple tree was unhappy with the punching bag and associated 'anger' from the person punching. Trees are sensitive, if you listen closely you can hear them talking.
Coincidentally, NPR's Fresh Air, recently did an episode on the current science around consciousness of plants, You can hear a podcast on it. It talked about how plants and trees actually have agency and how they communicate with each other and interact with their environment. Which, surprisingly, is different from this amazing insight I had when I was 18. I was at a campground with some friends and we got pretty stoned at the campfire. That night in my tent I thought I could hear the trees communicating with each other---kind of a buh-buh-buh-buh. And then I had this amazing insight that the water going from the roots to the top of the tree created this electromagnetic field that they were using to send out these vibrations and I was actually hearing it! Wow! The next morning when I woke up, I heard the motor of the generator at a restaurant and lodge next to the campground----b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b... And I suddenly realized that in my stoned state I had perceived time in a slowed down state, and that this generator motor was the buh-buh-buh that I heard. I laughed pretty hard.
In the Celestine Prophesy book they talk about being able to see and feel the energy of the plant world.
I remember tripping out on a trail and seeing trees like never before. I could see them as living beings, the leaves and small branches moving in the wind made them appear highly animated, looking excited by the breeze. They seemed conscious. I've never seen them again like I did that day.
I like hugging trees and talking to them..... They are stuck in one place and cant defend themselves or anything
Trees are powerful meditative beings (Apparently from the research of Stanislav Grof). I have been told many times that the trees can tell you of approaching weather and pests and other issues when you learn how to communicate with them. I recently heard someone say that if you have trees in your yard, you can ask them to protect your property from bad energy, bad spirits, or whatever.
That is true and obvious. But you have to be in a receptive mindset, most people today are too tightly wound up in their electronic existences.
