Touchy subject

Not sure where to start. Um, are you the type that thinks just because it's a baby that it's cute? Not me. Some call it cold-hearted, but there are some ugly babies in my opinion. Like if I think a baby is ugly, I won't say anything because I respect all that a female goes through to bring that child in to the world, but in my mind, I know for sure that it is an ugly child. I can't be fake and say, "oh, cute baby". It's just not in me to lie. Put your pride aside and tell me, have you ever seen an ugly baby? And what would you say if the parent said, isn't she/he so cute? Would you lie and say yes just to please the parent, or would you try and change the subject.

 

well, there's always comments like: baby looks just like you! or oh, wow, just looook at baby, etc. you know, where you kind of coo at the baby but dont actually say that it's cute.

 

Or my all time favourite, "Now, there's a baby!"

 

I'm with ya, sister! I think all babies are ugly actually. Children aren't cute for the first several years of there lives...maybe about 5 or 6 they start being cute to look at.

 

babies for the most part are pretty fuggly iffin ya ask me,,,..specially white ones... they generally look like shriveled up ol men in silly lil clothesn dont do much other than sit around like a lump or complain for the first couple months,,,, then they start gettin cuter,,,..

i just tellum like it is,,, noit aint cute,,, they are all ugly but its gots potential...

 

Oh man....My cousins had a baby a couple of years ago...and I had the hardest time looking at him...He was THAT ugly...He had this bulbous nose that didn't fit his head (poor baby), bug eyes, and the worst case of baby acne you've ever seen....and he had it for maybe three months...His hair was wiry from birth, black and all over the place like a young Einstein....

And everytime they would say, "There's my handsome boy" I just had to turn away. :& I felt so bad....He still isn't cute, but he's got rid of the acne...

 

I have seen some pretty ugly babies...but they don't look like that forever.

My BIL was born with the bridge of his nose...now THAT'S when a baby looks like an old man..

 

I think most parents find their baby cute, that's just part of their behavior coding... We have to find our own babies cute to care for them hand raise them.


As for other peoples babies, I personally think that most are cute in one way or the other, to me, there are no really ugly babies, but acutually some that in a way don't look as beautiful as others, but I am sure, their parents don't care.

 

I knew a woman that had two kids both of whom were not very attractive. I had a friend that had beautiful children and the woman saw her at the store and said "If I had beautiful children like yours, I'd keep having them!" I was shocked and didn't really know what to say. I guess sometimes even mothers know that their children are not too beautiful

 

I had a neighbor one time thathad a baby that was so fuggly. There was just nothing postive you could say about him. He was her 6th child in 7 years. (She had a miscarraige between 5 and 6.) He looked like a sriveled up 110 year old man. Covered with wrinkles and just plain fuggly. It think all I could come up with is "Oh he's so serious, isn't he." I think most kids are really cute, but this guy was fuggly.

I also don't think babies look like someone. They look like themself. Son't ask me if your baby looks like mom or dad. I can't tell you how many people say my son looks like my husband. They don't even consider the fact that he's adopted.

I think most babies are cute, but yes, there are some pretty smegged-up looking ones!

 

I just remembered a story that my grandmother once told me about a woman that always wanted a daughter and she kept trying and had 7 sons. Finally her 8th child was a girl. And my grandmother laughed as she told me "that girl was ugliest thing she had ever seen, she should have gotten the hint and stopped while she was ahead". LOL.

My mother admitted she found my brother ugly for his first few months. She felt quite bad about it, especially as I'd been a pretty baby from day one.
I never really minded, because he was my baby brother and that was just awesome. With hindsight and photos though, umm yeah.
He ended up OK though.

 

I used to think all babies were ugly as sin. Newborns especially, all red and wrinkly, with scaly peeling skin lookin' like chinless lizard aliens of some sort. And then I had my first child, she was and still is the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Funny how now I think all babies are beautiful, but none of them compare to her beauty, except for her little sister.

 

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

i don't think it particularly nice for someone to say they think all babes are ugly, even if it's their truth. it's like saying publically that all white people are ugly, or all short people are ugly. not very PC, in my opinion.

as for the op.

you can just say, "oh, s/he is so sweet/precious"

or you could humor the hormonal-post-partum mother by fibbing and saying you think that her baby is the most beautiful baby you've ever laid eyes on

hmmm...I don't think I agree with that one. Any opinion is worth expressing, that's why we live in America

 

I think all babies are cute. The first 2 or 3 months are kind of rough, but they're cute in the way that a bulldog is cute. Toddlers are the cutest though... although I wouldn't want one terrorising the house just yet.

 

I think it's ok to think just about anything, but to publically say something like this is crappy. Just my opinion and I'm free to express that But that's not why I live in America, I live here cuz I was simply born here. It's a perk that we can say anything, but out of respect for our peers, I think some things are better left unsaid

 

I respect your opinion, but I still think babies are ugly, toddlers too for that matter.

Then again, I don't like children in general, so maybe my viewpoint is skewed. I think baby animals are pretty adorable, but not baby humans.
