Have you ever done one? Dan and I are gonna be starting a three week program in less then two weeks. The one I choose I got from Mark Hyman M.D.- so far we have totally stopped drinking... on Wed. I am going to stop smoking... Im gonna use the patch for about a week, that way there will be NO nicotine going into my system during the program. A wk. before we are going to cut down on caffeine and all sugar/white flour... Then the program is not one of fasting but with our busy schedules I think this will work just as well.... part of it is supplements which I ordered yesterday... they include bentonite clay, flax and borage oil, flax seeds, magnesium citrate, probiotics, psyllium, buffered vit. c powder and rice protein shakes. The foods we will be eating will be only filtered, reverse osmosis water, brown rice, fresh water, non predatory fish, fresh-organic-non citrus fruits for inclusion in the rice protein shakes, lemons *only citrus exception*, organic veggies for broths, and legumes... we will also be doing hydotherapy *hot and cold treatment showers* and epsom salt, baking soda and lavender oil baths, meditation and yoga... im really excited and i cant wait to start.
but what happens when the program is over? will you stay in these healthy habits? because, aside from those suppliments you've ordered, (and maybe that crazy ole water you mentioned) most of the things you mentioned are great to eat on a regular basis. the trick is to research your options, and stay detoxed. like, you can still use sweetener, just not white sugar - try agave nectar or even raw sugar...still eat bread, just try wheat and whole grain...just don't detox to go back to eating junk... i think you might know that already though!
IMHO the best detox is a two day lemon juice and water fast. Also imo supplements and protien drinks are a load of rubbish. Do a 2 day lemon juice and water fast and after just make a conscious effort to ealthy healthily excercise more. I wouldn't mind a lavender oil bath though, especially after over 4 months of cold showers!
well, kayte, yeah i know what you mean. honestly, i dont eat any white bread and stuff like that as it is. i love whole grains and stuff like that... prolly is, i do snack too much sometimes on ice cream and chips and stuff.... but i defiantly see what you are saying. spacer- i already ordered all the supplements and they were NOT cheap so im gonna try them- lol. so you know, hopefully they work in combination with the diet.
so, you know the KEY? don't buy that stuff! really, it works for me! or, buy in tiny quantity, like a snack pack size of chips, or if you buy a box of cookies, eat one serving then give the rest away. that's what i do. or try to find healthier alternatives to those products. do you have access to a health food store? some reccommendations: tings chips (same brand as those veggie bootie ones), pita chips, or soy ice cream (although it's really sweet)
thanks kayte. those are good ideas. there is a small health food store near me... ill look for those things sometime.
How is the detox going? I might be interested in something similar sometime soon, with the changing of the seasons and all.
well, i was gonna do it until sunday but i think im gonna stop on friday instead.... because we're going to the beach for five days starting next tues.- and we're supposed to reintroduce foods slowly.... and yeah, id like to be able to EAT on vacation so the couple extra days should help reintroduce foods. as for changes, ive had a lot more energy yet an easier time going to sleep at night, seem to sleep better, defiantly less joint pain and less allergy type symptoms.... and i SHOULD have really bad pms right now since i should be getting my period tomorrow but i dont notice it at all. oh, and ive lost a decent amount of pounds... defiantly a plus when im gonna be in public in a bikini. lol.
so, when you say 'non-predatory fish'... what kinds of fish does that include? i've always thought that it was the small fish, lowest on the food chain that are the best to eat: like herring and sardines. are they 'non-predatory?
yeah herring and sardines are definantly non predatory and great to eat. it sucks because i have some GREAT LOOKING recipes for sardines and i couldnt find any throughout my whole detox program and i went to about 6 different fish markets... other non predatory fish are wild salmon, sole, cod fish, and tilapia.......
is there a website for this detox program? i've been thinking about going on one myself, just haven't found the right one yet. keep up the good work and i hope you had a nice time at the beach.
No, no website but if you PM me with your email address (or i guess i could use pm's if you want).... tomorrow i can type you up an outline of the whole program.... it's really no big deal. and thanks im sure i will... im REALLY in need of a vacation from this place that i live!
