I think you're absolutely right, except I have no idea where Edmonton is. What I suggest is you speak with your mayor, and form a committee of some sort and organize community cleanups.

Haha! How stereotypically American - doesn't know where Edmonton is. Good advice though, maybe a letter writing campaign, what with it being a somewhat bigger city.

i'm in edmonton right now with family i agree as well. when i'm walkking down the street i usually at least try to pick up as much as i can. if i picked up every piece i saw it would take me a couple days to get where i was going to. it's pretty bad. people seem to not give a flying fuck...its even horrible when you see garbage right beside a garbage can! i mean people can't walk two steps

I just recently moved to the worst block in my city and then moved back out within 2 weeks. It's a 2 block area with train tracks around the most part of three sides. Nobody goes there except the people who live there. Everybody throws trash on the sidewalks all day and night and then they act proud that they sweep their sidewalks in the afternoon when they get up. But, they sweep them into the street, so, what's the point. I organized a fundraiser for the area to help take care of some of the problems, like, people dumping mattresses and sofas along side the train tracks. Maybe it'll help get enough money together for a dumpster. Probably need a 100 footer( I don't know if they make them that big). Anyway, right after I set up the fundraiser and set the date, I moved. Told them all, I'll be back on the day of the big event. Not for another few weeks, thank God!

    theres too much garbage everywhere
bring back 10 cent deposits on bottles and cans and for that matter everything we buy, see how long the garbage situation lasts then, people will be falling over themselves to pick it up

Where are Jackson, Grand Rapids, and Knoxville? They're all larger cities. That woman was speaking out in agreement with you, offering suggestions, and you mocked her. Not very cool.

Edmonton, Alberta has a garbage problem?? Are you serious? When I lived there in the 80's it was a beautiful clean city! I lived in south Edmonton in a new apt. complex on the top floor and used to watch the northern lights! In the summer I would go down town till sundown approx. 12:30pm. that was great! Is the red light district still on 102nd/109th streets?? All those college girls Yawza!
