So I really want to get my tongue pierced, but my parents are totally against it, especially because they said it's a major oral health hazard. I'd like some comments from people who have the piercing themselves or anyone else on the health risks, matenance, and just whether you like them or not.
When I first got mine done, my tongue didn't swell so the barbell was too long and i ended up cracking two top molars from biting it. Sucked ass. Nows it perfect, no problems.
Does it feel like funny in your mouth? I mean, I see people with tongue piercings, and I think that's kinda cool...but I wonder if it bothers them...does it? I have the same thought about lip piercings, although they look like they would bother you more...I duno.
NO piercing should bother you. It becomes apart of you. You forget it's there... at the beginning with a tongue piercing you might go crazy playing with it and make your tongue raw, but eventually it'll just be....
i've had a lip piercing for three years and i forget its here. shit, even my boyfriend forgets i've got it, its just part of me now.
i had it for about 3 years and it caused the gums behing my teeth to deteriorate and look kinda icky.............................. and i also chipped both my front teeth on it.............
I've had a tongue piercing for about.. five years now, I think, and I haven't had any problems with it ever. I forget it's even there, and when I take it off it feels like something's missing from my mouth.
Same here. It seemed like my gum line behind my bottom teeth were receding a little bit. I did have a habit of rubbing the ball up against my gums though. So I took mine out. I really miss it, I liked it but I would rather have my gums.
It would drive me nuts. I would play with the damn thing until the end of time. I have had my ears pierced for more than 30 years, and I STILL play with them, and they sometimes get on my nerves. I am just not the piercing type, I guess. I do the same thing with a watch or rings or necklaces. I wasn't meant to wear jewelry. My 19 year old dd's best friend has all kinds of things pierced, and she was eating dinner at our house, and I just kept looking at her lip piercing thinking "How can she eat with that thing in her mouth?" It's her mouth, so it doesn't bother me, though.
My sister, who is almost 18 years old, has one, and I honestly forget she has it most of the time. She doesn't really play with it, so it's not super-obvious. She also has her belly button pierced. She used to have her nose pierced with a tiny diamond star shaped stud that was barely noticable, but she didn't keep it for too long. Then she had her eyebrow pierced and wore a really dainty, feminine hoop through it, until her school told her that she either had to wear a bandaid over it or take it out. She ended up taking it out. Me? I used to have my ears pierced with four hoops on the bottom, and two hoops on the top, on both of my ears, but now all I have is two hoops in each on the bottom. No other piercings anywhere. I honestly think my sister looks cute with her piercings. She's planning on getting a tatoo next.
