I think to plant a tree is beatiful and easy way everyone to show involvement with the nature. Do you plant any tree in your life?
I planted a juniper, willow and some kind of date-palm in my yard. Beside of this, with my father we planted cornel-trees, peaches, pears, apples, plums and apricots. This year we expect our peaches to birth their first fruits. Mmmmmm, tasty
Our government believes that death is such a horrible thing yet they hire people to destroy and kill our environment.. I think everytime the government cuts down a tree another one should be planted an if everyone did this maybe the government would get the message.. Or knowing the government they'd make a law stating anyone who plants a tree will be convicted..
The rate of 'deforrestization' in the Amazon Rainforests & Scandinavia is a senseless short-term money strategy which disinherits future generations. They clear forrests in Brazil to graze Cattle for: 'McDonalds' Hamburgers etc. Trees take Carbon Monoxide & turn it into Oxygen.
i planted many tree and watch them grow big, had a projekt over a couple of years ion school about "our tree" there is a hole forest now and i like walking around there
planting trees or anything for that matter is so rewarding...i think we'd all be so much happier if we just planted a couple trees each somewhere to watch them grow and just really connect with nature... and the world would be so much greener and beautiful. ive only planted two myself but i see many in the not far away future...
It's wonderful what you're saying, I agree with you. But why many people don't think about this and don't plant a trees?
Planting trees is not always good: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/3128248.stm Where I live in the UK it's not really wise to plant a tree as it's a combination of a sensitive upland conservation area, national park, working forest, and farmland. However, many of the trees that are rooted along borders of farmfields and with shrubbery and hedges, etc. are coming to the end of their life. I read somewhere that over the past 10 years the number of trees that border farmfields has declined by 30%, simply because they are getting old, and few are replaced. Because of the shortage of broadleaf forests, they make up a large number of these type of trees in the country as a whole.
Yes but that s just a private case. In the most places on the Earth planting trees is something good - for us and for the nature. I mean that many towns are blocked from buildings, streets or cars and it's wonderful when someone plant green beauty in the park or another suitable place.
I haven't planted a tree but I planted a plant once is that kinda close. It takes like the same effort I think. Tree's just are bigger. It would be neat to grow one. How long does it take to grow fully? I hear it takes years.
Different trees have different growth rates. Conifers are particulary fast growers - 1 to 3ft a year or more depending on type and location. Knight - I wasn't trying to turn people off the idea, rather make people think more about the best place to put their trees. I wouldn't say my example was an isolated case, I guess it depends where you live. Certainly anybody in an urban area should make an extra special effort!
I would add though that whilst conifers grow quick, a broadleaf tree is a lot more satisfying, and certainly rarer in many parts of the developed world. It is said that the classic Oak and many other of the great broadleafed type spends 100 years growing, 100 years existing, and the final 100 years dying. The slower a tree grows, typically the denser and stronger the wood. Most confiers are considered a softwood, however those growing in northern areas such as Finland grow much more slowly, and thus are superior if you want to cut them down and use them. The good news is that Finland is covered in so many of these trees, that despite growing slower and being the country's major export, they actually grow back quicker than they are currently being used up at.
in Spain they do this really great thing that every time a baby is born the government lets the parents plant a tree in this big huge park and it's great because not only are you planting a tree but the tree grows with the child and how awesome would it be to have your own tree thats exactly as old as you are? i think its pretty freakin groovy!!
squawkers7... Excelent your front yard is great. You must be happy with this place and I'm also happy for you! I have nice yard too but since yesterday my plants are in danger!!! Because there's a big trouble - an invasion of a millions caterpillars !!! They eat the leaves of the trees, and of the trellised vines in my garden, and of my flowers... I'm trying to annihilate these covered with moss damned insects, but they are so many... Bad, bad, bad!
