Hello there people [IMG]! Good evening and good morning to wherever in the world you are. Well now on to the point of this thread, this thread is about Title IX and how it is being violated at my school. Incase you do not know what Title IX is it is: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of gender, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_IX )

Title IX in my school is being violated because one of my closest friends I've known my whole entire life is not allowed to join the school's football team(US Football incase people think I meant the sport Soccer) because she is a girl [IMG]. She told me this specifically a few years back and haven't really thought of it then but I realized that it is illegal not to let a girl play the same sport as a male. I do know my friend personally knows all the risks and injurys that can occur while being a female and playing a contact sport such as this. So I was going to somehow manage to find a way to get a teacher to back me in this dillema and somehow get this straightened out. I am not only doing this for my friend, I am doing this for any girl in the future who wishes to play football at my school [IMG].

Thanks for taking your time and reading this long rant and I just wanted to know what you people think I should do about this thanks [IMG].

My friend, she may not look like she is able to play football but she plays contact football all the time with me and her other friends.

They should give her a chance!!! At my school we just have a separate team for girls. And if we are playing with boys (most of us don't want to actually play) the teachers have to actually change the rules so that we HAVE to get involved. But the guys can't tackle us.
But yeh, the coach should give her a chance :)

    peace
    love

ok i have loads of experience in this subject... I was from NY and way back when when i was in school i wrestled on the highschool team,,,, that is until the higher up figgered out i was female,,,,, ... soooooooo to make long story short ,,, i sued ... a lawsuit was brought on and eventually this is how it worked out.... 1 i had to pass the same physical fitness test as the males did in order to participate in the sport,,,, i had to be able to make the cut just like the guys did and all...i had to be able to fit in in every way just like the guys would on the team in order to not be cut,,, then and only then could i participate,,,, of course locker rooms n such were worked out later,,,,

this is long process btw,,,, by the time the courts got round to making a decision i was in a cast from the hip down and could no longer wrestle or play any sport,,, however atleast in ny i know the battle for the gals was partially won thanks to me:)

those are the laws in ny,,, not sure on pa,,,
if she is good enough to participate n take on what the guys do then she can take them to court n fight it out over time,,,, not an easy battle n it takes alot of time

To cut the time of action down.. call the CLU.that's what I did when they wanted to test my step sons piss.. he was not involved in any kind of school activity at the time they wanted to test him. He called me and told me they were trying to force test him.. make him pee. I told him to refuse, he did and they threatened suspension.. I call the Civil Liberties Union and told them what was happening, they jumped right on it and within an hour after I made the call, I recived a call from the school and they said they had a change of mind and Timbo could stay in school without the piss test..

Point being.. CLU is here to protect our civil rights, if someone is steppin' on your rights, do something about it, before we lose them all or they'll ammend all our rights, right outta the constitution... how many ammedments can it take and still be intact or working for the good of the people, in which the whole thing was set up for in the first place.
