I have acquired FL Studio and am looking forward to using it to harness my own latent creativity. Unfortunately I have no idea what I'm doing--and no background in non-electronic music, which I hope is not going to be a severe detriment. Are they any books or websites I should look into? Any programs besides FL?

sit down at your computer with a jug of wine and get all up in the program brah.
Once you are fluent and able in telling the program to do what you want it to, then the creativity comes.

I've always used the Magix programme, which I've generally found easy to use [even easier once I gave up on the handbook and started just experimenting :)].

Best tip of all is just to have fun and see what happens.

Download Ableton Live and make some NOISE. Creating loops is fucking easy as hell. I just record ambience and mix it in with fan noises or birds chirping outside & blenders and make crazy abstractness within minutes.
