Tin Foil = Aluminum
Aluminum Melting Point = 2000 degrees celcius
Aluminum BP = 2467 Degrees Celcius
Lighter = 600F


My numbers may be a tad bit off but you get the point.
If you see somthing wrong with this conclusion or the numbers, feel free to correct.

 

Only true if Tinfoil is 100% aluminium. And can't soft metal scorch and burn before it melts, creating possibly harmful smoke to inhale. Chemical residues left after the manufacturing process may also be burned inadvertently.

I have smoked with a chromed socket that was probably slightly harmful. It may be a better idea to smoke only with brass or steel if you must use a metal bowl.

 

Ive never had tinfoil melt on me, and ive used bowls over and over again. It does get carbon all over it because of the lighter though. I would think chrome would be worse to smoke than tinfoil would be.

But you see, foil releases chemicals before it melts.

Take a sheet of foil, put a lighter under it. You will notice it smokes and then falls apart after awhile. You us Tinfoil you are inhaling all that shit.

like ironcore said, it will only be remotely safe if it's 100% aluminum. and have fun finding ANY accesable foil/pop can that is 100% aluminum there are NONE.

k so lets see hmm...the melting point is very low for a metal, and even an alloy, on the periodic table, aluminum has the 7th lowest melting point [for a pure metal]

now for a comparison, Magnesium which has a melting point of 660 will IGNITE using a blow torch and simply passing the flame by it

now tell me, how the fuck do u think a non-pure form of aluminum [ie. pop cans and tin foil] with additives and chemicals can be safe to smoke when even the PURE form of aluminum can be melted using a common blow torch? and dont forget, even with pure aluminum before it begins to melt, it will be giving off residue from the burn.

 

eh i rarely use tin only as a last resort. My friends have used a hell of alot of tin tokers and they are all fine. I even know this kid whos like 24 and hes normal and his brother said he used a foiley everyday for 2-3 years.

 

I'm no doctor, but I don't think you'd notice anything wrong until later on in life, like 30-40 years or something. I mean, you don't really see people in their 20's running around with alzeimer's too often.

just buy u a bowl or carve u one out of wood. I have carved one out of bamboo, it works great.

Uh, the metal doesn't have to MELT or BOIL in order to break down and be inhaled. All it has to do is oxidize. Aluminum is a pretty reactive metal. And a lighter gets quite a bit hotter than 600F, anyway.

Even the temps from a lighter are sufficient to convert aluminum into aluminum oxide, Al2O3.

as for tin cans and foilies, fuck it. ive smoked so many tin cans and tin tokers in my rookie yeras, i dont think one mores gonna hurt.

 

They make special Hookah foil, and they have large screens that go over the bowl that sort of look like a metal plate with a bunch of holes drilled in it.
