In theory it is possible. There have been many experiments with many mixed results. What is hip forums opinion on time travel? will it ever be possible?

If you start with three apples and you subtract five apples, the remainder is a negative two apples. Now show me a negative two apples. The point is that although you can prove it mathematically on paper, in reality it just doesn't exist. It is possible to speed up and slow down time, you just can't go in reverse. We travel forward in time one day every day. The faster you get to the speed of light, the slower time passes for you. Imagine two cars traveling down the highway and one car passes the other. From a relative point of view, the slower car will look like it's going backward when viewed inside the faster car. Since Einstein's theory is based on relativity, that means all the math is relative to your own point of perception, then an object traveling though time slower than us would appear to be traveling backward in time. But in reality it's still traveling forward in time, just at a slower pace. With this simple trick of perception it is possible to fool an uneducated person into believing that traveling back in time is technically possible. The cool thing is that it makes for some great movie plots. Just don't be fooled by science fiction.

oh, it's all too possible alright, just not a very good at all idea. backwards i mean. forwards of course, we're doing that all the time. skipping ahead might be fun, and perhapse a bit less collectively dangerous. individually though, well anything individuall that doesn't involve harming each other ought rightfully to be up to the individual. oh yes, i know WE don't know how to do it yet, which is a good thing, considering how much harm we're causing just fine anyway. =^^= .../\...

I don't know about time travel but there's always the Philadelphia Experiment which was about teleportation and invisibility.
backward in time is not possible in math and in einstein formula. in einstein formula for backward in time , "the number on the ROOT must be NEGATIVE", what mathematic prove it IMPOSSIBLE to happen. BUT....... there must be someway to manipulate time. and that out of science method. bcs time cannot manipulated by thing that exist in the time. must be thing that outside the time. galactiic and this attributes including ourself and law of universe isn't outside the time. the most possible science can do with time, is only:teleportation.
there doesn't HAVE to be anything. there doesn't HAVE to not be anything. what i think about time travel, possible or not, is that i don't think its a very good idea. i think it may have been done. i think it may have screwed an increadible lot up. i really don't think its a very good idea to even want to do. hypatia would have died a happy and well earned old age had there never been a roman empire, and there never would, i believe have BEEN a roman empire, without a bunch of idiots mucking about in time thoroughly screwing earth's history up. =^^= .../\...

Hmmm is this a trick question?? I think anyone who thinks they can say with certainty it is or isnt possible may be fooling themselves. (those among us with physics degrees not entirely withstanding...) Everyone leaps so fast as to say what is or isnt possible, when history repeatedly disproves our vain theories...its very strange. Who really knows? Lets just start with the idea that Time is a quantifiable medium, ahem. I think astrophysics suggests its possible on interstellar scales. Black holes might warp time near them. Lawrence Kasdan/Physics of StarTrek anyone? Wormholes are fun theory models. Can information be sent back and forth through time? Wormhole physics suggests it can. How about a time phone? Maybe. Hmmmm. I mean if you want to talk quantum mechanics all human beings vibrate within a specific range of EM frequencies so higher or lower vibrations could shift perception of/relationship to time ...this could explain how some seem to get more done with less than others. I was in CA this past summer and it was very much a timewarp 40 years back to that old summer of love that I was technically naught but a fetus during... almost as if time had been frozen in those cosmic days forever really. I mean, we are in a hippy forum right? I sense several old time travellers lurking on these very threads right now chuckling to themselves.
in the beginning of time people prayed to the sun. few hundred years ago we thought the world was flat few decades ago we thought going straight up would take you into heaven now we KNOW time travel isnt possible? Maybe travelling particles through time is infact impossible, but what about your consciousness? be it willing or unwilling. what if tommorow you woke up and walked down the street and suddenly you were in the future in your future body? and then suddenly back in present in your present body, but with only one mind travelling between them times? science cant prove that peoples minds cant time travel back or forward.
We can not physically travel to a differnt time period, but we could recreate an exact moment. Thats about the extent of it though or else someone would come back here.
Time TRAVELLING backwards isnt possible, but surely its possible to WATCH the past. like if u travel faster than the speed of light to say the moon and then look back to earth with a very powerfull microscope and u wud se it like 8 mins ago. haha not that impressive but its still 8 mins
Let's assume time travel is possible. If this be the case, we would not study history, but go back and look at it. We would see people from the future (Stewie movie). We would know which religion to follow if any. Essentially, there would be no purpose to life... like some would argue that there isn't purpose now. There are so many ideas and "theories" but they are mostly just speculation taken out of a science fiction novel... that or Dickens's "A Christmas Carol."
