I might sound insane to you, but I never learned out to make a tie dye, anything. Do any of you have some tips?
I was never the creative one in the family, I always have so many cool ideas but no brain power to make them.
If any of you can give me some tips on how to create tie dye, then that would be great! One step closer to creating something brilliant!

    Thanks and Much Love!

just kinda bunch parts of the shit up, swirl it and use rubber bands to hold it in place and dip it into dyes

then let dry, and i beleave if you put it in an amonoua/water soultion after it helps the colors stick,, but yeh was alone for the first few times :)

you can also put the dye in spray bottles to give different effects.....

a quick google.com search on "how to tie dye" can help with the patterns.....

don't use rit dyes...they fade and bleed. Check out www.dharmatrading.com they have instructions, books, professional grade dyes, etc. I tie dye a bunch...and they are great for supplies and such :)

Soak shirt in a soulution of soda ask (NOT baking soda) this will permanently set/fix the dye to your 100% cotton garmet.

spin cyle the shirt so it's just damp.

Get your directions for the tieing method that you've recently googled ;) and fold and tie your shirt.

Fill several squirt bottles (like dinner style katchup/mustard bottles (wal-mart)) with the dye you've bought from Darhma and apply the dye directly to your shirt, making sure to get it in every nook and cranny :)

Wrap the shirt in a plastic bag, let it sit overnight.

In the morn, unbind/tie your shirt, through it directly in the washing machine (alone or with your the rest of your batch). Wash it with no soap for a cold cycle, then with soap on a hot cycle, machine or line dry and VOLIA! You have your very own tie dyed shirt that is 100% colorfast :)

(to do a spiral, lay the shirt flat, clip a clothes pin in the center and wind the shirt, you'll end up with a "disk" type thing, bind that up with several rubber bands and fill in the "pie pieces" with different colors)

    Peace

I love the spiral kind the best! I remember doing this method one time(sadly I haven't tie-dyed but only a few times) but using a pair of pliars instead of a clothes pin.

I think it's time to try and tie dye again!

Yep, you could use pliers, a cloths pin, even a fork! I've just used my own fingers in a pinch (pun intended :) )

Like hospital syringes? Now THAT would get the dye in every "nook and cranny" for sure ;)
