I was listening to this song last night, and it occured to me - is this a message to the fans? Is Maynard giving a big fuck you to all of us, saying all we want is some thrashy entertainment, so that's what he's giving us, us blood sucking consumers? I don't know how well that sits with me. I thought about it for a while, and realized that that is exactly what I want from him. Shame on me. But then I thought, he sold his soul to do that. And I bought it. He sold his soul to me. I own a piece of his soul, so joke's on him! Is that right? Does anyone else know what this song might be about? I read about it on that website a long time ago. I think they say that it is either a messege to the fans or it's about the record companys. Anyway, I dont think maynard ever really clarifyed it for anyone, so we will just never know.
To me it just sounded like it was about an abusive, one-way relationship, I never read it like that at all. I like it less in this light, and not because I'm bothered about bands hating their fans (god knows I would).
ya that was what I always thought... I was a bit put off by it at first, but the song deserves a clap, some respect, and a big fuck you back. Not the first time an artist has outrightly bashed their fans or their scene.... Dead Kennedys did it, and did it well.
i dont care if he is insulting me in this song, cause i think this song is fucking bad as hell. the drums, the guitars, the vocals, all of it is fucking genius to me.
