edit: I never said anything about bigotry towards communism. I don't think it's necessarily relevant to the discussion, and I already shared what I feel is "intellectual input" earlier in this thread. you could have also read my follow up post, and honestly, how could you not see that I wasn't being serious? anyways.

damn you, KC! first of all, you shouldn't be keeping me up past my bed time. you're too good for that. second, I think any "too good for" reference should count, but I guess whoever makes the rules first makes the rules.

 

I support Socialism. I support China's right to exist. I do not buy their products, I do not watch their movies, I do not support the Olympics and I do not support their violation of Tibet, the threats against Taiwan and surrounding nations nor the continuing persecution of the Falun Gong. I will protest both the televising of the Olympics and the US participation.

There is more than one reason to not watch the Olympics and to not buy Chinese products.


They have terrible human rights problems. They have child labor in terrible working conditions. The average worker spends their day in unsanitary conditions. The workers safety is not considered an important problem.

Their one child policy has caused mandatory forced abortions.

They are the biggest industrial polluter on the planet. They do not respect any one's religious beliefs.

Plus numerous other things including lack of freedom.

It is not only about Tibet.

 

I can't win. If it's not Boog kicking me for derailing her threads you bust me for pushing them back on track.

Im not saying China does not have social problems, thats a given. But china was not in the thread discription.

i'm not boycotting the Olympics. i dont' believe the Olympics should be used for anything political - it should just be about the athletes competing...nothing more
