I get none of you are doctors, but my thyroid was high so I am being put on medicine for it, could smoking marijuana make it not do it’s job? I can handle taking a break from the pot but quitting all together is not an option. I would really like your impute. Thanks and have a wonderful day :)

My mom used to have thyroid problems, and she still needs to get occasional tests to make sure everything is fine.

She doesn't smoke though, so I don't know how it mixes with weed.
    Sorry :(

Unless this medicine was specifically tested on people who smoke pot they will not have an answer on how it effects people who do. I have found for the most part that pot does not effect many medications. Usually only the mood enhancers and such.

Is it an over active thyroid? What is the medication supposed to do for you? For that matter do you know the name of the drug? I can do some research. Although I do not claim to be a doctor. I would call it more like a hobby.

So what you are saying is you have Hyperthyroidism and not Hypothyroidism. That is better if you do. I would suggest with Hypothyroidism not to smoke until the drugs are in place. I don't think they will inhibit the drugs but with Hyopthyroidism there is more of a lack of energy and can cause depression. So, in that case I would stay away from the weed but with Hyperthyroidism your Thyroid is overactive so it would not be as bad.

Either way it would not hurt to wait a week and see how the meds affect you. You can always smoke after that and if you notice a major difference then you might need to consider giving it up for a while. However, I think that would really depend on how it make you feel. My last bit of advice right now is not to eat any smokables. No pot brownies for you.

That is just my advice. I don't think it would hurt to talk to your doctor about it. That depends on your relationship with him or her. My other concern with you is that you seam to be on a lot of medications. I just want you to make sure that all of your doctors know what you are taking. Even if you are just taking a Motrin or something they need to know about it. Drug interactions are not something to frick with. Again, I don't think that pot is that big of a deal but I have personally had problems of being overmedicated. It can suck.

i have hyperthyroidism. it came with a bonus of grave's disease. my smokeage has not seemed to effect my medical progress towards getting it under control. unfortunately my thyroid was so out of whack that it will probably be 2 years until im out of the woods, but theres a treatment (not approved by the US, despite the same technique being used in brain surgery,) arterial embolization, that is minimally invasive, and worked in most patients without them having to be on hypo thyroid drugs. my doctor just apologized, because no one does it here. pain in the ass.
