DS2 throws things all the time. He throws toys at his siblings, at us, at the tv - you name it. He throws his food on the floor and at his siblings. He throws something at least 20 times a day, and there are days when I think it honestly hits about 50. We've had to throw away a couple of broken toys, and he's hurt his sister a couple of times with wood blocks.

I'm at the end of my rope. I have no idea how to deal with this. With toys, I tend to take away anything he throws, but he usually just moves on to something else. I can't put everything up, because A) we don't have room, and B) that leaves his sister with no toys, either. We try talking to him about the fact that things get broken and people get hurt, but he's only 2.5

Does anybody have any advice on how to deal with this? I'm getting too frustrated by it to think straight.

hmmm...im not sure, just an idea, but since he really likes throwing things, you can make it into a positive thing, like give him balls and let him throw them into a basket or something.
kids usually like getting a rise out of their parents, so when he throws something, i wouldnt get mad at him, simply pick it up, and put it a little bit out of his reach. no screaming, no scolding, nothing.
I agree with not explaining it to him, he's really young, and if he fully understands, he doesn't care yet.

im sure throwing food is going to be the hardest to stop him from doing.

i hope what i suggested works.

yeah, redirect his desire to throw to an activity where he can safely do it. get him a Little Tykes basketball hoop, t ball set, mini-batting cage or something of that nature. a fun one for little kids is the soft fuzzy balls and disk shaped velcro catchers you strap onto your hand. they can throw and catch easier cuz the fuzzy ball sticks to the velcro disk...and they're cheap. you could start off by getting him to start asking for the game when he starts indicating he's in the mood to throw. then put the disks on your hands and catch the ball when he throws it. he'll love it!
