Seems not primarily an issue of american millennials.

 

Generation-Y Millenials are a hopeless throw-away generation that was raised by the fringe extremists who invented the terms "micro aggression" and "safe space." Us millenials have been propagated to believe that gender is a social construct, in that boys and girls are exactly the same, but disregard the fact that our hormone levels and brain chemistry are way different. We are a useless generation that will throw away freedom in the name of safety.


However, I do have high hopes for Generation Z. As they're reportedly the most conservative generation since the Silent Generation.

I think its not that bad at all. You're projecting it on a whole generation which is ridicilous.
Besides, who taught those weird millennials these ideas? So yeah, there may be a whole lot of people in the US with these ideas, convictions and mindsets (which could be far worse) but it's not primarily or in the first place a millennials issue.
I love it when older folks nag on the newer generations. Its how it always was and is supposed to be. Very reassuring :-D

Because what kind of democracy are we talking about here? Maybe the millenials polled equate a true democracy to mob rule and would prefer to live in a representative republic, for example. Who knows. OP, you have a link to the actual survey so we can put it into context?

 

If you want to find reasons to disregard and discredit this data, if the provided sources of data (7 of them within that article) was not enough for you then look for your own references to the world value survey , not my job to provide links for you.

I did google the World Survey but the website is somewhat convoluted, I couldnt find anything referencing the specific question about democracy

So I asked you because I, appearantly wrongly, assumed you might research data presented in an opinion piece like the article you linked. It is generally better to look into the polling presented and put it into context rather than view it through the perspective of someone like the writer of the article you linked. Anyone can take the results of a survey and frame it to suit their own perspective but I think it is good practice to a) make sure you understand the context and the specific way a question was framed on a survey like that and b) make sure the data was collected scientifically

It has nothing to do with discrediting the data, but rather to see the data myself and verify the writer's interpretation of the data. Make sense?

 

OP's claim is that they are more "American" I assume. Same old song and dance that the young people will sell their soul to the communists along with grandpa's guns.

Just keep in mind the things your current REPUBLICAN president supports and suggests. Just to name a few no freedom the press (because they hurt his feelings), and no freedom of speech or protest. Young people do not support him only those old enough to remember a time before MLK.
Of course these things are not important because bad people use them. Sure that's how freedom works. Keep in mind what party was in power when the Patriot act was passed. Then talk to me about freedom and who cares about it. Not just guns you know.Yes, both sides play a role but this argument is almost exclusively made by older conservatives who haven't the slighest clue about the real world.

 

And how old are you? Likely born in the 80's or 90's I'd bet. So you might be unhappy with what you are known as. I know for sure you need to crack a biology text book regardless of birth year.

Actually I don't ask others for sources unless the quote something without a link, which is rare. I am asked and see others asked regularly for info that backs up statements by Meli. Nice of you to come to meli's defense as usual.

She regularly asks people for sources of their statements. Not doing research for her and certainly not getting her links to a source from a source for her as she requests. I did my research on the link , article I provided and the sources, references prior to posting. Just letting her know I won't do it for her and she gets mad. Let me know when you have something that actually contributes to a topic, as you have nothing.
