I have raised many spiders. Barn spiders are intelligent and use tools to weigh their nests down. I think spiders are beautiful. Society has just taught people to hate them.

I have pet spiders throughout the spring and summer months. I don't usually name or touch them and there's a rule that if they touch me or get near my bed and I catch them, they're dead. But the only ones I'm scared of are black widows and brown recluses for obvious reasons and wolf spiders because FUCK those guys. All others are cool and welcome to make their webs on the windows and by the front door because they eat the flies. Jesus Christ, the flies. I'll take spiders any day over those nasty fuckers.

 

I remember seeing a HUGE Banana Spider once. about the size of my hand.

I still couldn't resist poking it with a stick though.

i don't think of them as "pets," and recluses/widows don't really grow around here, but the rest of it anyway.

 

I like spiders. One of the coolest creatures on earth. My friend used to keep them as pets, she had this really angry one, think it was called a goliath bird eater or something, if you put your hand to the glass it would charge at you and literally the force that spider had was unreal...

 

i remember a certain poster here on hipforums that may or may not even be in this exact thread who had a mushroom growing in their carpet lol....i consider that way worse than a few pet spiders playing soccer with a dung ball.
