My dad brought these photo's back from canada yesterday that were taken in Churchhill Manitoba near Hudson Bay. Brief over view is that these snap shots were taken a while ago of a polar bear that had wandered over to some chained dogs. I believe there were three dogs but the other two hightailed themselves to a safer distance. The other dog (one in the shots) stayed, curious I suppose about the bear. Anywho, these are a few photo's of the polar bear and the dog actually playing together. I thought it was beautiful.
I Am Totally Amazed !!! I Would Have Thought The Bear Would See The Dog As "Lunch "!!!Please Enter These In Photo Competitions,They Look Like Winners To Me .......Thanks For Sharing.....Cheers Glen.
Animals never cease to amaze me. Local news told about a family out sailing, and seeing what they thought was a log went to remove it just in case another boat hit it. The 'log' turned out to be a red squirrel swimming in the middle of a lake. They threw it a rope and it clambered aboard, shook itself and explored the boat; on reaching the shore it took off. Nature warden said he knew squirrels could swim but he'd never known one to swim a lake. Those are wonderful pictures.
I've seen those, too! I actually read an article about them. The guy had a pack of huskies, and he would leave food (whale blubber) out for the polar bears, trying to make sure they wouldn't bother his dogs. What he got was totally unexpected. Animals left alone in the wild WILL act as, well, wild animals, and that's what happened. People gave him a lot of shit for it, but he never had a dog hurt or killed, and never had any problems with the bears bothering his own house or anything... they just enjoyed playing with the dogs!
Too bad man can't learn from them. That's fantastic. Like the pictures of the tiger nursing the piglets.
VERY true. My dog (he's with my best friend now) is bullmastiff, boxer, rottweiler and lab. His mama was a purebred bullmastiff. After she had their litter, there was a stray cat in the neighbourhood that kept going out, getting pregnant, having the kittens and just abandoning them (so I'm guessing she was old, because we had an old cat that was like that with her kittens, too). The bullmastiff nursed every litter of kittens that the mama cat had for over a year and a half after she had the litter that we got our puppy from! And my dog definitely got some of that from his mama, he was so pretective of kids, cats, and any other animals... especially babies. He was in the yard one day, just getting ready to come in. He stopped and looked over and I saw a deer with her baby coming across our yard. I started yelling for him to come in, thinking he was going to chase them, and he just stood there and watched them cross the yard to make sure they were safe. He would always follow our friends' baby around everywhere and if he fell down, the dog would put his head down so he could grab his collar and pull himself back up... cute!!!
