it's got to suck to be this kid. 23 years old winning the indy 500 tell the last corner https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMxnqenqKLA"]YouTube - 2011 Indy 500 Last Lap - JR Hildebrand Crashes and Dan Wheldon WINS‏
the poor kid. sitting somewhere tonight knowing he was winning one of the most prestigious races in the USA if not the world and oops.
Whatever. At 23 I was partying and having the time of my life... I never even RACED in the Indy 500...
Classic, sad example of immaturity and inexperience wiping out skill, luck, and hard work. He had a huge lead, so all he had to do was get off the gas and go around the lap traffic slow and easy. I'll bet he was so excited about winning that he forgot all about checking his mirrors and listening to his spotter on the radio. He let his emotions take over. Bet he'll never make that mistake twice. You don't forget the lessons that cost you this much. On the other hand, if the spotter didn't give him the right advice, it's that guy's head that should be on a platter, more than the driver. I have to wonder what was said on the radio. Wheldon has had his share of bad breaks in the last two years, so it isn't a terrible thing that he won. He doesn't even have a full-year contract right now.
