Thinking about growing...Tiny Grow Room!

Hi all,

I've been reading a lot through the forums here and it's really inspired me to start growing. Unfortunately, my living situation is such that the only viable growing area I have is very small - a disused kitchen cabinet of internal dimensions 47x26x57 cm (roughly 1.5x0.8x1.8 feet).

Due to this limitation, can I ask for the advice and wisdom of the members here as to whether it's possible (and worthwhile) to even consider growing in this space? As for expected yield, I am only growing for my own use.

Indeed if this is viable, can anyone suggest suitable strains and growing techiques for me to read up on for such a compact grow?

That's REALLY quite tight, man. Is that after you have the space setup, or is that the final dimension with your lights and fans and stuff?

Will you be able to leave the cabinet door open for air flow, or does it have to be kept shut for security reasons?

 

Ganja, thats simply the internal dimensions of the cabinet without anything installed in there. I was planning to punch holes in the cabinet sides to allow ventillation however since posting, I am now considering a PC case grow - ive seen some nice boxes over on icmag.com, and the added stealth factor is very (very) attractive!

I realise the space is very tight, unfortunately for me my only options are to grow in a tight space or not grow at all!

I'm currently reading up on PC grows - if anyone has any experience with this, any advice would be greatly appriciated, as are recommedations for strains that take well to tight spaces.

Closet, wardrobe, prefab storage unit. As tight as those dimensions are it is going to be tough. Try going to the goodwill and look for a massive dresser that can be hollowed out.

 

I used a homemade grow cabinet in my old house because I didn't have enough closets to use one just for my plants. They work great. I would advise finding a model you like online and just building your own from their design, as it's much cheaper to do that way. You just need to make sure you do the ventilation correctly, mine would get screwed up sometimes and it shot the temps up like crazy -- really stressed the plants.

You're probably going to want to go with a really heavy indica strain if you want to keep it small and bushy -- something like an afghani would work well.

 

Bill, thanks for the advice - unfortunately I do not have the space for anything bigger. I'll be giving the PC grow a shot to see how it pans out, even if it doesnt work out it will be good experience for the future when a large cabinet/dresser will be possible!

Hey dude so you met the pc growers club huh? Hehe its a graeat way to grow, I suggest a 70watt hps light for that space NOT CFLS!!! and get some lowryder 2 you will love it in that tight space. Remember not to pamper your plants too much as this kills them more than underattention IMO.

 

if your over at icmag, check out RedGreenery's Rubbermaid.....it's not as stealth but remains small with more of a harvest than the PC grows...

Cheers lads, yeah Im so excited planning my build just now, up until I came across these forums and icmag I had never even contemplated growing before! Theres some great info around!

Im looking seriously into the HPS bulbs but having a bit of trouble sourcing them and their fittings online here in the UK, I'll be taking a look in some hardware shops soon so hopefully I'll find something! As for the stain, I just went for nirvanas Northen Lights - hopefully I'll do alrite with a bit of ScrOG'in!

Looking forwardward to starting.
