Historical note of interest...... In 1932, James H. Banning and his good friend Thomas C. Allen ("The Flying Hobos") were the first African-American aviators to make a transcontinental flight. The pioneering aviators left Los Angeles, bound for New York, with only $25 between them. Twenty-one days later, they landed their "Eagle Rock" biplane at New York's Roosevelt Field. Actual flying time was clocked at just over 41 hours. Now these daredevil gentlemen were indeed TRUE pioneers! "Live long and prosper"
