i was walking around, vacuuming up the little bread crumbs and assorted dust & lint that collects int he corners where the vaccuum can't reach, and just as i was about to dump it in the trash can, i saw the mouse twitch. i jumped about 4 feet in the air, shouted, panicked, called my husband. hehe. the damned thing was alive, probably deaf now, too. my cat had been trying to get into the dustbuster that morning. i guess it had crawled up in there and couldn't get out.

so, i had tyler close the windows and grab the cats. we went out into the yard, and i opened the dustbuster. the mouse leapt from the dustbuster straight towards tyler, scaring the crap outta tyler AND the cats. the mouse landed on the ground and started running toward my daughter, who flipped out. it ran into a bush and stayed there. so i grabbed the cats, took them over to the bush and held them there until the stupid thing twitched. then they were ON IT.

i went into the house, closed it all up, called my mother to tell her what happened, then took a shower.

it was a cute mouse, though. little brown thing, the sort kids keep as pets in a cage. too bad it was in my house.

I don't like rodents in my house. My cat is fairly useless though, after stalking it until I notice, she lays back and watches me chase it with a broom.

i've never had one in my own house before, alive that is. my mom would get some occaisionally, because she lives on a golf course. so we'd set out traps and i'd have to deal with them because suddenly my mom would go all squeally girly on me. but my cats are AWESOME mousers. you don't take in strays for nuthin.'

Hahaha! Last one I found was lucky it lived. My old buddy Chaos the cat (now deceased) had two already dead when the squealing awoke me..He left those bodies in my tote bag for work..(gift for mom)
The third he was tossing from paw to paw..I grabbed a winter glove and tossed the little guy, beady eyes and all, into a chinese food container, & walked up to my local burgerking.. Let him go.
    He was just adorable!

lol. at my mom's house, when we'd hear mice in the garage we'd throw mogey out there and close the door. the next morning, we'd open the door, there's be a few mice lined up at the door, mogey would saunter in, and we'd give her some tuna. such a good kitty. still a spitfire at 10 years old.

lulu looks sweet and quiet, but she's sneaky-lethal. dishes is more kittenish and absurd in her methods. i think she gets things from sheer persistance and dogged determination, with a bit of good luck thrown in.

I have a friend that puts bells around her cats necks, & they still come home with all kinds of rodents. Gotta admire that. :)

I have 8 cats at the moment and mole, rat, mice, and bird carcasses everywhere. I sometimes wish my cats wouldn't love me so much. There is nothing worse then walking out the front door barefooted and stepping on a dead animal. ICK!

Or one you have to hit over the head with a shovel because it's not yet dead, but clearly suffering. :(

Why not? I'm guessing it wasn't born inside the house. Rats or mice = disease.

If you found a serial killer in your closet, would you just shoo him out the door?

Yeah, not quite the same...but you know what I mean.

no - I'd lock him in the closet

but I have to admit when I lived in a converted goatshed,my bed used to be on the floor and around the edge of the shed was a sideboard and around about 2.00am the same mouse always came along on its travels on the look out for cake.It was funny cos if I just twitched my arm it would shoot all the way back round into it's hole.Well - it was quite entertaining so I just left it to its own devices

well, here in the southwest we have a problem with deer mice, which carry the hanta virus. usually fatal. two children, fatal mouse droppings, dont' wanna mess with it.
