I found a synthesis online several years ago that converts lysergic acid amide to a more unstable intermediary, lysergic acid hydrazide, to make easier the displacement reaction to replace the amide group with a diethylamide. the big question is "where do you get the hydrazine to reflux?" well, friends, fear not. Hydrazine dissolved in water can be made quite easily by adding ammonia dropwise to hydrogen peroxide until the reaction stops. once I get back to my normal computer, review the synthesis, and take some notes, I'll tell more so all you amateur chemists out there can try this at home! (note: hydrazine is highly unstable, evolving nitrogen gas very rapidly when brought to flashpoint, even in vacuo. this property has made it useful as a monopropellant rocket fuel additive, so be sure to reflux away from your face lol.)
Hmm... i'm not sure I follow. Why would you need hydrazine if you want to substitute the amide with hydrazide?
the hydrazine bonds to the carboxyl group, displacing the amide and making lysergic acid hydrazide. it's just a question of nomenclature
There is no point in a home lab trying to produce LSD from LSA, its' a myth. If you want to learn how it's really done, and what it will cost, look at recent lab busts and what was confiscated and used in evidence. To make mdma will take about £600 worth of lab equipment. LSD £40,000 - £70,000 in the most recent guy who was not distributing. Worth looking at real world facts before listening to forum 'experts' with anything more advanced than meth or GHB. that language looks like a fester "synth", better to not waste your time, he never managed it.
