What's your favorite park, or kind of park? What is your favorite kind of ride? Went to Universal in Orlando today, it was excellent, possibly the best park I've ever visited, it certainly had the best rollercoaster I've ridden. It takes a lot to get my adrenaline pumping, but one of the Harry Potter rollercoasters was fucking awesome, actually had me shaking afterwards. Then, we went to Disney world two days ago, and it was dogshit. Universal outclassed this park completely, on every level. Everything from the staff, food, and the rides, sucked balls. Well, there were a couple of decent rides, but I've been to far better parks in both Asia and Europe.
Kennywood; classic amusement park, pretty cheap; have a nice day without too much of a wait and some great rides. My runner-up would be Cedar Point -- expensive but worth it for the thrills and it has some great shops; but when we were at Cedar Point we ran into an Ohian couple that were surprised when they learned we were form Pittsburgh, and asked us why we didn't go to Kennywood instead, they go every couple years =P
Six Flags Marine World (I think it's called Discovery Kingdom now) in California My favorite ride there was the Medusa roller coaster ride
Dude, that park looks awesome. Lots of rollercoasters, and cheap, too! The only thing that sucked about Universal was the price, jesus goddamned christ, it was unreasonable. Glad I didn't pay.
If it`s the one near Pittsburgh PA, I have one fond memory of it. When I went to Orlando, I remember having a ball in the water park, Wet N' Wild. But my favorite ride was the Michael Jackson one, which would surprise me if it still existed... Edit: I also remember being flabbergasted by the fireworks and the music in, I believe, Epicot Center. Love fireworks! @OP: Have you been to any of the ones I mention?
Negative, Epcot isn't that interesting to me, I'd rather learn about cultures by visiting them. As for fireworks, I will give Disney World that, the fireworks towards the end were spectacular, truly spectacular, nearly as awesome as New Year's fireworks in Sydney harbor. I went to a Wet'n'Wild in Australia and it was really good, but have only been to the two so far in the US. I really enjoy water parks though, might be going to Sea World while I'm here but I think I'll feel depressed for the trapped fish.
That one looks sweet, too, plenty of rollercoasters - and I like the sound of little waiting time. My brother splashed on skip-the-line tickets today, for which I am super grateful. We probably saved a good 7-8 hours of waiting. And Kennywood is really cheap! I don't understand how they can justify charging $100 or even more, like they do in Orlando. I suppose this is more of an international tourist trap, whereas Virginia and PA probably don't get too much international traffic.
I've only ever been to a handful of amusement parks, but my favorite was Six Flags (Over Texas, the original one) as a bigger kid and Frontier City as a little kid. My very very favorite rollercoaster of all friggin' time is Runaway Mountain. It's entirely in the dark and it's sooo amazing.
i've only been to cedar point. personally, i'm more of a waterpark person. edit: oh yeah, i also went to geauga lake once before it closed, and busch gardens in florida. both were fun, but sucked compared to cedar point.
Kennywood. Laid back. You can even bring a picnic lunch and eat in the picnic table area. Leave your cooler there while you go explore the park. I've never had anything taken while we were gone either.
I got the chance to go to knotts berry farm in california 12 years ago. It was a lot of fun, i've always been a fan of roller coasters. I haven't been to an theme park in a long time. I view them as a playground for all children who should all get a chance to go before they turn 16 regardless financial status. You create the best memories at those ages.
Yep. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Six Flags every year from the age of 12 to 17. The last two times were absolutely the best, though. When I was 16 my choir raised money all year and we went to Six Flags and the girl I was partnered with on that trip became my best friend ever (she passed away in 2008, so those memories are the brightest treasures in my mind), then when I was 17, my parents decided it was a good time to let their reigns loose and let me go on a week-long trip to Dallas with my boyfriend and a couple of friends. Man...great great times. I'm so glad I had parents who trusted me enough to let me have that adventure because it really did help prepare me for the real world.
i dont know many theme parks, but i live right next to Disneyland Paris, so ive been there many times. i love the Tower Hotel ride i get the impression that the theme parks in the US have crazy rollercoasters, i want to go
