In all seriousness though, isn't that you making a personal decision to take offense to that word? Why not make the personal decision to be unaffected? You can do that, you know. Life is a series of thoughts that dictate actions. Those actions dictate habit, and habit dictates behaviour. Change how you think about things, and you can change the world.
You're quite right, it is me making a personal decision to take offense to that word. Just like I don't like racist jokes, I don't like about 3 specific words I hear often. You can't ignore the meaning of words. If someone calls me a 'C-word', I'll take about as much offence to it as I would if they insulted my personality or appearence. It carries the same weight, IMO anyway. I don't have much respect for people who talk like that to people. I wish I could change the world by not caring if someone called me a 'C-word' - but I just don't see that happening. At least not in the near future
