Post-punk (not to be confused with punk) is one of my favorite genres of music. Outside of bands like Joy Division and The Cure, it seems like a lot of music goes unheard. This thread is for the posting of post-punk music, both old and new, as well as well-known and obscure. Most of the original post-punk bands hailed out of the UK, though there were post-punk bands from all over Europe and even Eastern Europe in the early 80s. The genre is often known for its bleak, dark and depressing (though not always) sound, which often incorporates elements of punk, electronic music, psychedelic, progressive rock, avant-garde, and sometimes even jazz and world music. Its peak was from around 1979-1981, though still gets made today by groups like Savages and Viet Cong (now known as Preoccupations). I will start with one from The Sound from the year 1980. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjV0z3Rf-ac

Post-punk from 1983 by The Chameleons out of the UK -- one of my all-time favorite bands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcEK6uTAezs
bought this album because i love the voice of the girl and there was a couple bands that i liked that they were in. turns out this is the only song she is featured in, and little more than backing on a few other songs. the guy singing has a rough voice on every other track, (nothing like in this song) but somehow the music is good enough that i still listen to it every once in a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA5Wc043oK0
