I have to tell you, I am not saying that the U.S. media has a well-organized agenda when it comes to the mentally ill. Clearly they are probably doing it for ratings.

Anyway the U.S. media's approach to mental illness is clearly negative. They want us to believe most of them are violent. In reality only a small percentage ever are. But you can't deny that is the narrative that they are giving.

What you need to remember is in other countries, like the U.K. and Canada this is a non-issue. Most of the mentally ill are locked away in mental hospitals. So the end result is that they just stay there.

But what you have to understand is that is not the case in the U.S.A. There are no more public hospitals. There isn't even a reliable network of private hospitals anymore. Simply put, they have nowhere to go.

And they need housing and jobs and an education. And how are they going get any of that when the media portrays them so consistently (and inaccurately) bad?

What do the rest of you think?
