It'll have something to do with Indians. Americans love bringing up facts about killing Indians. Any story ever that cone out of America with the words "the truth about such and such" BAM it's about killing Indians.

Not entirely accurate, in camps perhaps, but never underestimate Eastern Europes struggle with them and the willingness of these nations to volunteer to do the work themselves.

While you're now learning something new about your own country, you might find it interesting to learn something new about other countries.

You should research the Muslim divisions in the Waffen SS who took great pride in doing the mop ups of cities as the Wehrmacht rolled east, or the volunteering Estonian, Lithuanian and Latvian provinces who would tail the German advancement through establishment. With the blitzkriegs in full effect, as if us Germans had time to do the dirty work, those nations accepted and volunteered to mass murder the Jews once the Waffen SS had advanced through a city or town. Cannot remember the name of the division, totenkopfverbande perhaps. Raided the cities after they were taken, non German.

And the Jews killed the Arabs and the Arabs killed the hostages and that is the news. Is it any wonder that the monkey is confused..

I followed the link and read the story. And I agree that, at least when I was in school, history was misrepresented. We did learn a lot about the harmony of the first Thanksgiving. Knowing now that so many Native Americans were slaughtered during those years, I think it may have been a less harmonious experience.

Yeah, "Poland for the Poles" was a common quote and banner before WW2. They were having a lot of issues. Actually there's a great book called "The battle of Warsaw" not a novel, but as thick as a novel that goes into a lot of detail about pre war Poland. It's an eye opener.

    also this"

"Nations and peoples are largely the stories they feed themselves. If they tell themselves stories that are lies, they will suffer the future consequences of those lies. If they tell themselves stories that face their own truths, they will free their histories for future flowerings."

Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US thanksgiving holiday.

Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers.

Thanksgiving day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture

they really didn't teach much in school. i always thought thanksgiving was a harvest celebration. the pilgrims/indians aspect of it always kind of surprises me, because i always forget that part of it is even a thing.

Since African Americans are neither European, nor Native Americans, how do they justify celebrating Thanksgiving?

That’s true the first black man (in the form of an indentured servant) didn’t arrive at Plymouth Colony until 1622, one year after the First Thanksgiving Day in 1621.

So why do we celebrate Thanksgiving Day?

Because as quiet as its kept while we might like Chicken, We love Turkey

I want to know the real reason the Pilgrims had to leave England in the first place

Robert Browne wanted no interference by the state in Church matters

    Half the pilgrims were Brownists

I think they were looney toon religous nutjobs

British 1600s anglican version of al-qaeda

It IS a good explanation. Nothing quite says 'I'm thankful for this harvest' as enjoying a tasty turkey and whatever cultural heritage one may have: giving thanks for having a great harvest is the essence of Thanksgiving.
