So, after being a long time anti-baumer and giving anyone and everyone he knew shit about doing X and the long term brain damage they will suffer. Swim decided after a long nagging, and looking up and re-reading the effects to accept a freebie. Only his 2nd time but It has raised a few questions. Is all the hype about the super dangerous effects of xtc and potential for instant death a bunch of D.A.R.E. bullshit or not? I know most drugs are demonized for their dangers when the truth is they are no more dangerous than other substances we are forced to consume on a day to day basis. But i don't know...Did swim's bitching about friends doing e have backing or did he just sucker into 'the man''s nonsense? Please only post information that is credible. None of that, "I did like 10 and I didn't die" stories, because that just clouds the issue in the other direction. iggy:
i try to only speak from firsthand experience. if you've never tried something and tell someone it's bad, how do you know that is true. you can choose to trust things you read, but again how do you know it is truth. from first hand experience, i've taken mdma roughly 10 times, over the course of 1 1/2 years. it's been 3 months since i've taken any, and i feel no brain damage.
long term heavy use of mdma has been known to cause a certain type of brain adaption where your seratonin receptors are "burned out", which has a lot of negative effects on short term memory, mood, sleep, and cognition among other things. keep in mind that this is your brain adapting to so much seratonin, you're not actually doing any structural damage to your brain. then there's the whole other issue of purity, as "ecstasy" is known to be one of the more difficult drugs to reliably get and to know exactly what you're getting. many health problems that arise from doing a lot of pills may have something to do with the meth/piperazines that are not uncommon in pressed pills, but mdma does in fact have negative effects if you overdo it (what doesn't?). from what i understand, these are temporary but still may last a year or more. most importantly, just take care of your body. taking mdma a couple times a year would be perfectly fine for both your mind and body, and really it follows the same guidelines as generally being healthy and taking care of yourself, not over indulging in anything and keeping your use infrequent. besides, you'll appreciate those few rolls a year WAY more if you're not doing it every weekend. the dangers of mdma are grossly exaggerated.
imo ecstasy dangers are the most built up of any drug out there. there was a campaign to scare people away from mdma ffs. I believe that ecstasy is a safe drug in moderation. the health hazards aren't too bad as long as you limit your uses. keep the beauty of the drug and only do it once every couple of months and you won't notice a thing.
You should definatly do some research if you're going to be deciding whether a drug is safe. The most sound opinion seems to be that in moderation, ecstasy can be done safely. With heavy use, thats when people start getting downregulation of serotonin receptors (which is, what it is: brain damage). Also, you should know MDMA is very hard to overdose on (you need like 100x the active dosage), and it's also non-habit forming. except the real dandger in doing ecstasy is in purity of pills. cuz you never know whats in 'em.
Basically, MDMA's relatively safe as long as you're sensible with it. If you abuse it then it's gonna fuck you up and pretty quickly.
if handled properly it doesn't pose much threat to your brain...but if you go on binges and eat every unknown press in site you're probably going to see some rapid consequences.
