http://www.tiredandlonesome.com/tfsp_vid2.html just watch that video and i dare you not to automatically love that band... it's an actual family...they buy slides from car boot sales and such like and write songs about them...the dad plays piano/keyboard...the nine year old daughter plays drums and the mother operates the slide projector... I also recommend getting hold of "mountain trip old japan 1959" since it kicks ass and should be heard by everyone...
also...mercy if you read this...it may interest you to know...that eggs song we heard in jumbo records in leeds was by them...
I saw them on Conan O'Brien one night, and I thought they were so great, but I couldn't remember their name! It is the coolest idea, I wish I had come up with it!
http://www.tiredandlonesome.com/tfsp_vid1.html Mountain Trip to Japan, 1959 it's one of thsoe songs that will be stuck in your head...like bananaphone "public execution can be so degrading...better hurry up the old ladies are waiting... for their... mountain trip to old japan 1959" sorry...it's just one of those songs i want to sing constantly
In among all those twangy guitar bands and screaming noise merchants I felt honoured to see that on Mtv2! That was great!
Thankyou Josie, this is my new favourite band! Finally someone with a rival to the White Stripes' minimalist act, and they do it so much better! Absolute genius! And he's playing a damn nice Gretsch in the Mountain Trip video...
They make me so happy! I missed them by like 5 minutes at Bonnaroo last year... I was so sad. The little girl is precious. I want to put them in a little box and carry them around with me.
I've realised who they remind me of. I was singing to myself in the shower this morning the line "public execution can be so degrading ... better get it over with, the old ladies are waiting" and suddenly it hit me ... Pavement! The Trachtenburgs have exactly the same genius randomness of lyrical juxtaposition as the man mountain Malkmus. Anyone else here a fan? *please say you are please say you are* That band was the most important band of the last fifteen years, if you don't know them you simply can't claim to know anything about modern music! edit ==> that might be a slight overstatement, but they are (were) great!
aww man, that family are brilliant! i recently saw middle america, and i loved it! i cant wait to see em live
