When i joined the old old forums, it was how-shall-we-say?, a bit like a family but the sort that resembled a mafia family. I shall explain... Basically when anyone new came along they would be vetted for any serious difference of beliefs, opinion or agreement with the established hierarchy of the Uk hip forums. If found to be different they would be ignored until said party had got bored and left. - BUT I SURVIVED! This may sound harsh, and for those who were the old guard (peace-pheonix, Kat, Kelso, Claire etc) You have matured into welcoming, friendly and overall great chums. Thank you. Now however, new faces, new commitments of old members who might be at: Uni New Job In a new relationship (in love, married) Abducted by aliens Thinking they are merlin the magnificent This means that it has changed well beyond my capacity to change with it, there for i regret to inform all that i shall be leaving the forums. However as with all the usual leavers i will return often and post until my dying days! cheers, wish i had known u too and stuff... point is, even our moderator Peace_pheonix isn't here anymore he's at uni and has a girlfriend so obviously he's not gonna be about much... (no offense sal). U count the posts from claire, kat, showmet and basically everyone i knew have fucked off somewhere... I'm not saying newbies (Edited: your not a newbie i noticed) are not nice people, They are some of the funniest people i have seen opinons and views of. But i am a shy, hermit type recluse and well... i'm just too busy to sit at my computer. To the pub!...
I can imagine one day, all of the "old guard" will have migrated to the new forums. There will be nobody left. And then, a single newbie will come here. He'll tell his friend, and that friend will come here. Another newbie will get the link for this forum from a search engine. Soon, there'll be twenty or so newbies here in this forum, full of posts from the old members...who have disappeared without a trace. Marie Celeste eat your bloody heart out yeah, I know how unlikely it is that everybody will leave and there'll be no trace of where everyone went, but let me dream ok?
Time's are a changing yup... it's all odo... I hardly ever go on msn anymore, and my internet usage has at least halved over the last 6 months... It's not that i don't love all my mates on here as much... it's just, well... it's just not the same... I don't really think it was how you described it. You make it sound like a fascist state full of superhuman elites. It's always been an open and welcoming community. Ok a few rightwing nut jobs might not have been welcome, but there's never been a conspiracy to exclude anyone. It's a forum. You post. Post more and you get known. Get known and get involved. It's a circle of friends, not the third reich. Anyways, I don't need to say bye, as I'll see you when I get back for Christmas. I remember feeling excluded when I first came here. Sal's right, though, it's just a case of a newbie making him/herself known. If you post a couple of times, then get bored and give up, you're never going to be noticed. Nowadays, people don't ignore me because they don't know me. They ignore me because they do know me, and know I only tell horrible jokes, and that they shouldn't encourage me. I feel so loved
You're far too young to be frightened of change Particularly on the internet. I too think it's sad that this place has died, the new forum is nice but has a quite different atmosphere and the average age there is higher so can be a bit like attending a PTA meeting.
