Tv (meaning prime time) Has really gone downhill. No that is not right, tv has been thrown out a plane with no parachute at 39,000 feet that is what tv is now. ( Sorry but I'm about to rant) First off "reality" shows. I don't know about you, but no time in the inmedeate future am I going to be on an island with sixteen strangers. Hollywood could have stoped with survior, but nooo they feel that is the god given duty to create and shovel shit down our pervebal throats. They go on to create such "great shows" such as the simple life, Boot camp ( Like the war in iraq is not enough) Oh who forget such classics such as Married by america and the newest heep of shit to bee rolled off the fox presses ( like fox news dosen't make enough that. O' Rilley I'm talking to you ) the sawn. Yes this new show take down on their luck (and looks) women and gives them more plastic than a barbie doll and then makes them compeate in a padgent. Many experts ask why my generation waste so much time on video games. Well the way I see it ; it is replacing one idot bo for another. Peace Nowhere
Yeah, I totally agree with you. They should either take all these stupid ass reality shows off TV or put them on one channel
I am not sure tv in the past was any better. we tend to remember the good old shows and gloss over the appaulling ones. And there is still plenty of good stuff to watch...
The TV industry has finally found the ultimate with reality shows- making shows without putting in any work. Just turn on the camcorder and film whatever happens. And usually nothing does.
I agree. The basic cable channels are of course the worst....but some of the higher cable channels I find to be entertaining. Animal Planet is my favorite. But for the most part TV sucks. It may just be me but it seems like even back in the early 90's tv wasnt THIS bad. Shows still were funny and witty and different from one another. Now it is just a carbon copy of one thing after another and it seems like almost everything is based on sex latley. Sexy characters...sexy plot...or "if you are not sexy lets do a ton of surgery on you to make you sexy". The girls just come out looking plastic and souless. I hate to think what tv is gonna be like in 10 years.....its scary.
I don't know about now, but at least before I left for Japan, there wasn't really much to be excited about on the main networks. Actually, I really don't miss much about American TV (although it's better than Japanese TV).
I think a lot of the problem is that we remember the good programs that we used to enjoy, and forget the rubbish that we never watched, or watched once just to see what the fuss was about, and of cource when we were children we were shielded somewhat from the worst TV had to offer by our parents (you're not watching that rubbish!). I do think the proportion of rubbish to decent stuff has been going up though, mainly down to the fact that the more channels their are the more programs are needed, and the fact that its easier to pump out cheap crap than to come up with anything decent. Also, with a lot of the decent stuff (documentaries, films etc) moving to specialist channels, mainstream channels are more and more left to fill the gap with rubbish. Oh well, I'm sure it will get worse.
Too many commercials and ads is one thing. Really!?!? Only $30 for THE WHOLE SET OF KNIVES? WHAT!!!!?!?!? Youre cutting the price in half, again!? Holy Shit I'm Gonna Explode With Desire TO BUY theeeeeese Knives! I can't manage to figure out why shows like family guy keep getting canceled.
there's still some great shows out there. the daily show for one. and arrested development may be the best show on prime time tv right now, although that may just be because of my pension for david cross (lost episode this sunday!). thats about all i watch though, the occational chapelles show, south park. any stand up, or forensic show. the history channel and the discovery channel too. i sometimes come across the most interesting useless shit on those channels.
