I personally love the smell of my feet after walking around barefoot all day. It's not gross like when they're shoved in shoes all day P). Usually I'll have been walking on dirt for a good portion of the day. So what do you guys say? Barefoot smell good or still icky?
I checked "I never smell my feet." because feet that are constantly bare have no smell whatsoever. It's kind of like asking "Do you like the way your elbow smells after a day of wearing a short-sleeved shirt?"

Yes, it's true bare feet don't smell, but some surfaces you walk over will give your feet a nice scent. I 've always loved the smell my soles had when I walked over freshly cut grass.
They smell like the grass, trees, dirt, etc. I love getting my feet dirty on a hike, then smelling them when I get home! (Hate to wash them after that.)
i just smelled my feet after reading your posts. they reflect the smells of the places i've been today. they smell like grass since i just walked my dog. i checked yes, because i love the smell of feet after a day of barefooting.
That's what I always thought too, but after reading some of the other posts I'll have to check sometime after I hike or do some gardening.
feet don't smell if, you don't encase them in something like leather. i'm barefooted most of the time. i also live in the seventh largest city in the u.s.a. and, broken glass is one hell of a big danger in the city! when i lived in the woodlands you could walk everywere barefooted with, no problem whatsoever! i would advise to keep your hygine up by washing your feet daily; tetanus is a real danger! just wash off the surfice dirt (no need to scrub and scrub untill their whiter then white.) a real good book on all this is entitled: "the barefooted hiker," it is by ten speed press. i don't remember the author's name and, i don't know if it is still in print.
The book is by Richard Frazine, published in 1993. I have the book but had to special order it through Borders. A very informative book for the beginning or experienced barefooter.
funny, the only place broken glass is a problem for me is on the beach. sad, really. also, the only time i had any danger with maybe getting tetanus was when i was wearing sneakers - converse all-stars and a nail went right through the bottom into my foot. i was jumping around and didn't even see it. >.<;;
I think the scent you describe Lizzie is very pleasant. If you ever need me to do a smell check on your barefeet, let me know. /tease
My feet smell considerably better barefoot than confined in a prison of leather and man made materials. Smell your own feet? Has it ever occurred to anybody they're far away from the nose for a reason? This time of year, my feet are green on the bottom cause I like to mow the yard barefoot. x
deadguy, you can smell check my feet any time you like. /zapp brannigan voice.. lol. xexon, i would definitely be too afraid of chopping off my feet - kudos to you!
My feet lose their proper smell after barefooting and smell of whatever I've walked on - soil, grass, etc. But after I wear some shoes, they don't get smelly, either.
It's true. When I'm listing reasons for barefooting to those who ask to know, the first reason I offer is the immediate end of bad smelling feet. That's gone at once. The other benefits build up more gradually of course.
