Anyone hear of this band? A friend introduced me to them a few days ago and I can't stop listening to "Caring Is Creepy". Apparently it's on the soundtrack of Garden State. Anywaysssss... just killing time.

yeah, they're awsome, i first heard of them off that soundtrack too, i have the albums chutes too narrow, and oh inverted world. O inverted world came first, and in my opinon is the better album of the two so if you're going to buy on thats what id reccomend. (even if it wasn't the better one it is my general principle that you never truly understand/know a band/artist without hearing where they came from so i always buy the earliest recording of an artist/band i can find when i first become interested in them)

I agree with these points, and with Beckly's comment about "Oh, Inverted World," which does seem to be the best of the two albums.

But I like both of those albums... I told my wife that they reminded me of the Kinks, back in the late 70s...I then played The Shins for my dad, and the first thing he said was, "they sound like the Kinks..."

I thought that was pretty cool...

Excellent pop-sensibilities in an unusual, arresting medium... I much dig the Shins... ;-)

Oh, Inverted World has better songs, but Chutes too Narrow is a much more coherent album, I think.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of seeing them live in an intimate club setting last year. They ripped through the majority of their original material plus one House of Love cover.

I myself have never heard House of Love; my friend informed me and I would not question him, because he knows his obscure shit.
