So I'm making my famous spaghetti sauce, and will serve it with fresh linguini, and meatballs tonight. It's simmering now, and will be for the rest of the afternoon. It smells so amazing. This is what I did in case you're curious. 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 onion, diced 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon hot red pepper flakes oregano basil parsley 2 tomatoes, chopped 2 28 oz cans san marzano crushed tomatoes pinch of sugar salt and pepper fresh italian parsley, chopped fresh basil leaves, hand ripped (no knife on basil) Heat oil over medium low heat in a dutch oven, and cook onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and spices until softened and fragrant. Add tomatoes and carmelize for a minute. Then add canned tomatoes, making a slurry with water in the can and add it to the pot. Add the sugar, season with salt and pepper. And bring to a low boil. Then turn the heat down to low and let simmer all day. Add meatballs or sausage or whatever you want and let those simmer in there too. You can add the parsley and basil in the end, but I let it simmer for awhile. My meatballs- 1/2lb ground pork 1/2lb ground beef 1 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan 3 Tablespoons fresh italian parsley, chopped 1 egg or 2 yolks milk Whisk the bread, milk, and egg together making a sort of paste. Combine that with everything else being careful not to overwork the mixture, and fry in butter and olive oil over medium high heat. What are you guys making today?? This will be a great dinner after my smoking sesh later this aftnernoon. Can't wait..
Wow JadesMom, I think I need to marry you  I'll skip the meatballs though. What am I making today? A trip down to the Chinese Place, either that or a falafel. I need to go to the supermarket, because I have no food whatsoever, but I'm being lazy about it.
Thanks autentique- I always forget that you're a veggie. My mom is too so whenever I make dinner for the fam I have to make something else for her, or she just eats whatever she has.. But she does eat fish now.
Yeah, I remember you told me once about your mom. I dont eat fish either though, but whatever, Ill be happy with that delicious sauce and some pasta. Im a simple girl, very easy to please
Not for that long, since August'07. I'm still figuring out how to eat right and all of that, I dont crave meat though, I was never a fan. Fish is a different story, it always makes my mouth water, but I still dont eat it
Yea it's definitely hard finding vegetarian foods, especially at a restaurant. That's mostly why my mom started eating fish again. Cause she could never eat anything when she goes out. There are a lot of vegan and vegetarian chefs out there though that can do amazing things. You should find some recipes online and check them out. Do you like tofu? I love general tso's deep fried tofu at the chinese restaurant!
I do like tofu. I just dont really know how to cook it myself. I do make myself some things that are good and nutritious, hmm like 3 things? hahaha, but it's something. It is really hard eating out, I just end up eating the same things over and over again. I've found an amazing cheap vegetarian restaurant though. It's the best food I've had in a LONG LONG time.
We have a couple of amazing vegetarian restaurants around here too. One that is within 15 miles, and the other's are kind of far, but we can still go there once in awhile. Tofu is kind of hard to cook.. Unless you have a deep fryer, but that doesn't make it very healthy. I'm not that good at cooking it. I bought a package a month ago, and it sat in my fridge the whole time.. I finally threw it out. I just hate cooking it, but I love eating it when it's made right.
See, if YOU cant cook it. I migh just as well give up. I dont really know how to make anything that involves actual cooking, except for Pasta. But then it's all salads and pita wraps, they are yummy though.
yea im a real cook, fuck all you ppls, im making oriental flavored top ramen and pickled eggs BOOOOYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
lol I hate ramen noodles. And evoo can be used as a body massage oil green.. But I think I'd rather use something pretty scented.
i have to be totally honest, jadesmom you are the first person i have ever met that doesnt like ramen, for seriously
