Coming back from a work trip, having met some delightful and slightly less delightful individuals, I had a crisis of moral direction.

    (OK I lie).

So I thought the hippyworld of hipforums would be the idea place to seek moral guidance...
    Hmm.

So anyway, when do you think violence is justified? Failing that, do you ever think its fun, amusing, outrageous or whatever?

Remember, folks, this thread does not encourage, solicit or condone violence in any way, shape or form. Now excuse me while I nip off to sing Kum By Yah, and put a daisy necklace thing in my hair.. :daisy:

I don't really know that violence is really ever justified, but sometimes the urge to punch someone in the testicles is overwhelming.

Slight problem with this tho. As an analogy:-
I disliked someone so I thought "right, I'm gonna pay a 7 foot black man to xxxx him up the xxxx". I was just about to pick up the phone, then I thought "Damn, I think he'd actually enjoy this.."

    Life's dilemnas..

PS oops, KR I like ginger people. :blush5: Some of my best friends are ginger.

Call me creepy all you like but I dont think violence can be justified. That's not saying I havent been violent before or wanted too be but it never solved anything and I ended up feeling worse in the end.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

I don't think violence is justified, but I do believe that "accidental violence" is ok.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I ran that serial killer over on accident! He ran right out in front of my car when I was driving on this sidewalk!"

lmao, Malia. That's like how I was at the convenience store a few minutes ago. These kids were riding their bikes in the parking lot and I was just joking, but I asked, "How much you wanna bet I can peg one of these douchebags?" Daniel was like, "I bet it'd be pretty easy" and I mentioned the added difficulty of making it look like an accident. I told him to be an accident, you just have to say whoops. Haha. But yeah, sometimes I'd like to slap around the dumb kids around here, seems like most of them are terrible people, disrespectful and stupid. Sometimes I just want to go parking lot bowling during high school lunch. ;)

I have been moderately violent towards certain people in my life/time.
Mostly when I was younger person.
When rage would build up and I hadn't thought about the consequences.
These days I don't really find myself in positions where rage gets the better of me.
I'll be verbally violent rather than physically violent.

I can quite easily have empathy with people who have had something so despicable done to them or their family/friends they lash out with violence -

    e.g
Home invasion - homeowner uses violence to remove intruder from home.
    Murder/Harm - revenge after somebody murders/harms a loved one.
Rape - somebody rapes you or a loved one and you harm/kill that person.
Violence - you find yourself in a situation where violence is being used against you. Defence!

Is violence justified such as declaring war on a particular country or group? - well, that's a totally different kettle of fish.
I've certainly not been opposed to a particular war/conflict - so it would be hypocritical of me to not think that can be legitimate.

There is no justification for unprovoked violence.

there's an important distinction between saying violence is understandable and saying violence is justified.

although i frequently find myself empathising with people who used violence in revenge,i rarely think that it is justified, if ever. in self defence or defence of others, when the situation demands it, is another kettle of fish.

I think some people might consider violence a reflection of weakness in our society.
But rather than being an argument against it, that makes it an argument IN FAVOUR of it.

Violence is never a good thing but it depends on what you mean by justified. If we hadn't have fought back with WWII then there would've been the old jackboot in charge and you could've forgot any freedom of speech and later down the years a forum like this one.

Personally I'm against violence, it's always usually led to more violence but ever since we bipeds started to walk the earth we've kicked the crap out of each other and it aint going to stop in the near future.

Violence is evil and should be avoided if possible!
