Well ... there is no arguing that with the rise of video game violence in the past 20 years to look and feel more realistic than ever... the amount of Physical violent acts in this world have decreased. And if this was one of the intentions of the video game industry .. then congratulations to them all - they have successfully decreased the levels of Physical violence among whole generations of society .. young, old and in the middle. As I hear so much of these days these video games are 'A place to release that aggression' Everything sounds okay and well ... however I think the video game industry knows very well there is a fundemental flaw in their logic and that is very simply ...The Physical Violence in society - that the industry claims to be decreased .. has not decreased at all; The amount of violence is still the same except that it has moved from Physical ... to Psychological - at best .. the overal level of violence has stayed the same - But i doubt this to be the case; I think that if anything it has raised the levels of violence in individuals overall. You may ask Whats the Point in this argument? The point is .. we are being fooled into thinking that trading Physical for Psychology is a good thing .. not only have we traded .. but also added on another 50% or so. Think of Violence for a second to be just like energy - you can never really make energy dissapear ... it transforms into something else; you can also create more energy from mixing two things together... e.g people are still seeing and experiencing Physical violence while mixing it with the Psychological thus raising the overall level of Violence. You can also apply the same logical to all media e.g Radio; Movies; TV Shows; Newspapers; Internet; word of mouth.. so on and so forth - I doubt 70 years ago you would see shocking videos/footage on every street corner(24/7)... keeping in mind that around this time there were entire World Wars going on - now we have even more access to media via Internet and the TV that is inside everyones house(maybe even more than 1) - its more or less impossible to stop being exposed to any of this violence. I think what all this really means is that World-War three has been happening without anyone really knowning it ... The Illusion of Peace and Freedom has actually turned into Slavery and War all over the world. Nobody needs to drop the nuclear bomb anymore ... It has been dropped without anyone actually noticing .. "what are you talking about?" - Global Warming is the result of the Nuclear Bomb; not the Nuclear Bomb we see in photos/videos; one that we didn't even know we had dropped on the earth until it was too late. I ask - was it an accident that some scientists figured out about Nuclear energy then right after we figured out it could be used as a very dangerous weapon? I think this was mother natures(read into the use of that phrase as you will) way of saying to us 'Ive had enough of mankind ... blow yourselfs up' Then all of a sudden ... we as a species decided it was a bad idea to blow each other up ... but it was too late; mother nature had already made up her mind to get rid of us off this planet by any means. the quick way with one final act of violence (nuclear bombs) or the very slow way with a insane amount of violence(human-made natural nuclear bomb). Why are we even given the option(free-will) of the quick or slow? I think its to see how violent our species can get towards itself and other forms of life in the universe. To see how much we will en prison ourselfs as a species ... is it any wonder that we have not been given access to travel the full universe? what would we do with that technology? if the past is anything to go by .. the only thing we would know what to do with it .. would be to destroy and conquer more. Luckily nature knew exactly where to put us in the universe .. in the middle of nowhere with no access to go anywhere. well if you have managed to read all of this; it covers alot of ground - most likely not well written - but then again; I don't claim to be someone who has been educated to write in newspapers or scentific journals - but this isn't about how I write .. its about what im talking about. Do you think any of this holds any truth?
I wholeheartedly disagree:boxing_smiley:, it may be true that video game violence is not the best thing in the world but in my opinion the 24/7 news that is so starved for ratings that they take everything they can get there hands on and blow it far out of proportion is the true problem. For example patients from a local government run center for mental disabilities is being shut down in my area and the patients being relocated to private health care yet the media ran the story as an alleged "Death Sentence" as if patients were going to be thrown onto the street as the employees headed for the hills. http://www.kjct8.com/Global/story.asp?S=10950061 Remove the fear mongering News media and the world would be a better place, now anyone with a good idea as to achieving this goal speak up because it is not apparent to me.:toetap05:
While I don't disagree with the majority of your post, I have to defend my personal stance on video game violence. Violent people will be violent no matter what they do, be it playing video games, participating in sports, or even going out to the bar. I have been playing violent video games since the age of 5. I am 21 now and have never seriously hit anybody in my life. I am disgusted with myself on the rare occasion that a violent thought crosses my mind. People point to violent video games as the cause of physical or psychological violence when really violent people just tend to gravitate towards violent things. Anyways, just my 2 cents.
Definitely, but I wouldn't relate this back to video games, but the media for shure. And I liked the bit about WWIII is already happening and something about slavery.
