I'm going to create a webpage (probably on Hippy.com) called the Psychedelic Hall of Fame. I was wondering who you all thought should be included and why. Please include whatever info and details you can. All nominees should be psychedelic activists, not just ppl who use psychedelics. Here are some of my suggestions... Albert Hoffman Aldous Huxley Robert Gordon Watson Tim Leary Ann and Alexander Shulgin Terrence McKenna Bear (Owsley - even if he didn't grant me an interview...) Captain Clearlight (Waldron -saw him at a party last weekend!) Who do you nominate?
Dennis McKenna deserves a place, even if his contributions werent as prolific and well known as his brother Terence's contributions. i think co-authoring the book that made cultivation of magic mushrooms a reality for average people outside of warm climates grants him the right to be included. he helped to change the psychedelic scene in the united states and europe in a very real way.
and all i know of Dock Ellis is a little article i read on erowid...i dont know much of anything about sports and havent really looked into this story further, so i dont know anything beyond whats in this link. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_history3.shtml if this story is legitimate, i think this guy deserves at least an honorable mention for a great moment in the history of psychedelics, and as an example of extraordinary behavior displayed by some individuals while on psychedelics. even if he's not necessarily been an advocate/activist i will say i think that dennis mckenna definitely does deserve to be on the list, though, even if dock ellis is questionable. as do ken kesey, allen ginsberg, and andrew weil
That Doc Ellis article was quite facinating. It makes me proud to live in Pittsburgh. Thank you for pointing in out Nesta. As for the Hall of Fame, I can't really think of anyone elsa amzing to add though my drug history knowledge is quite limited
FRANCIS CRICK first person to concieve of DNA molecular architecture, while under the influence of lsd
How do you know that Francis Crick was under the influence of LSD at the time? Was James Watson also under the influence of LSD at the time?
im not calling you a lier, but can u give us some evidence, cause this is very interesting ive read their book and they mention nothign about LSD, but they could have just decided to leave the drugs out of it
Justr look up LSD Francis Crick on google and a bunch of articles appear from several sources including an interview
Im surprised no one has mentioned the Beatles especialy John Lennon songs like "Tomorrow never knows" etc turned me on to psychedelics.Listen to" Freda People" [Bring on da Lucie] on the Mind Games album,it's just as relevent today. He was still praising psychedelics in his last interview.Shine On
i will look for a primary source but ive read many places that at the end of his life, or at least after his career, he let it out that he was on lsd. ive read somewhere that he threatened to sue somebody if they let it out. he obviously did not want any of his respect or scientific authority tarnished if people suspect that taking drugs is part of his research programs
Doc Ellis! Yea that's story has been confirmed by the man himself. Imagine tripping facing in the middle of a baseball field with thousands of people watching you? Wow. My aunt worked with Watson & Crick (she was like their secretary, and shes credited in the journal where they first published their finding) I'm gonna ask her next time i see her if she ever heard that from Crick himself.... Watson is a racist eugenicist, he's a tribute to how quickly science is moving these days and how quickly ideas become antiquated. But i have to say, if LSD had anything to do with Crick's revelation of the double helix, that is +1 for pathological science... which is a strange contrast to Watson, who's own ideas are obviously pathological, but just dumb...
